Bertha Smith

     Graveside services for Bertha A. Smith, 89, Middleton, who died Saturday, Nov. 6, at a Caldwell nursing home, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Middleton Cemetery by the Rev. Wendell Random of the First Baptist Church, Middleton, under the direction of the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.  Friends may meet at the cemetery.
    She was born May 28, 1893, at Salt Lake, Ky., and was reared and educated in Indiana.  She married Adam Smith on Dec. 24, 1915, at Muncie, Ind., and they lived in Illinois and Wisconsin prior to moving to Middleton in 1965.  He died in 1976.  
    She is survived by one son, Adam Smith of Muskegon, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Evelyn Walker of Caldwell; two sisters, Blanche Humbert of Detroit, Mich., and Alma Koop of Muncie, Ind.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Donald, a daughter, Reba Hamby, one brother and three sisters.
    Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church in Middleton.
