Beverly Smit

    Christian Wake services for Mrs. Beverly A. Smit, 53, of Nampa, who died Thursday, May 7, 1992, at the Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, at the St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa.  Father Francis Springer, S.M. of the church will celebrate.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
    Beverly A. Smit was born on April 20, 1939, in Wadena, Minn., to Alfred and Alice Uselman Roggenkamp.  She was raised and educated in Minnesota and then moved with her family to Caldwell when she was a senior in high school.  She graduated from Caldwell High School in 1957.  She married Casey Smit on Nov. 28, 1,1958, in Caldwell.  She worked as a homemaker and mother until her four children were raised and then completed and graduated from Mercy Medical Center's Nursing School in the early 80's.  She worked at Mercy Medical Center as an LPN for a short time and then began to work for Dr. M. Wilkins as a private nurse.  She also helped her husband operate their family car business, Casey & Co.
    She was a very active member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church and was involved with numerous volunteer activities.  She had a great love for the outdoors, enjoying any different activities.
    She is survived by her husband, Casey Smit of Nampa; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Christine and Rod Thornton of Ketchum, Debra Smit of Seattle and Susan and Scott Rivera of Meridian; a son, Michael Smit of Ketchum; three grandchildren, Jennifer Rivera, Nicholas Rivera and Alex Smit; her mother, Alice Shue of Nampa; three sisters, Sharon Bates of Tillamook, Ore., Barb Smith of Nampa and Jean Stewart of Star, and numerous her relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father.
    Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today until 9 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. to Rosary time.
    Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1526 Ventura Drive, Nampa, Idaho 83686, a favorite charity, or flowers may be sent.
