Alvie Smith

    Graveside funeral services for Alvie L. "Whitey" Smith, 83 of Star Route, Melba, who died Sunday, Aug. 7, at a Nampa hospital will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Melba Cemetery with Pastor J. Harley Adams of the Melba Friends Church officiating.  Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.  Services and interment are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
    He was born Oct. 4, 1899, at Butte, Neb., to Alva and Maude Smith.  He was reared and educated in Nebraska, Minnesota and the Dakotas.  He moved to Idaho in 1929 with his family and they settled in the Emmett area.  He later moved to a ranch on the Snake River near Melba where he had since made his home.
    He is survived by six brothers, William Smith, George, Phillip and Sid Smith, all of Melba, Forrest Smith, Oreana, and Lloyd Smith, Council; three sisters, Hattie Cooper, Grand Junction, Colo., Maude Agenbroad and Ida Smith, both of Melba; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
