William 'Kirk' Kennedy

    We lost our Dad, William "Kirk" Kennedy, 74, of Nampa to death on Monday, November 11, 1996, at the Veterans hospital in Boise.
    Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 15, 1996, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be at a later date in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa.
    Kirk was born on June 23, 1922, in Durham, Oklahoma, a son of Logan and Mamie Kennedy.  His family moved to California in his youth.
    He married Ruby Ridgway on February 24, 1944. He was inducted into the U.S. Army where he served his time in the South Pacific.  They lived in Lancaster, California, and had a family of eight children.  They moved to Fallon, Nevada, and then moved to Nampa where they have lived for the last 30 years.
    Kirk worked for Brown's Trucking Co. and worked as an independent hay hauler.  He retired after several years.
    Kirk and Sons sponsored and coached the "Kennedy Hay Crew" girls softball team.
    He is survived by: his wife, Ruby Kennedy of Nampa; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Ken Davenport of Nampa, Vickie and Bryan Berry of Sandpoint, ID, Carol and Larry Detweiler of Meridian and Sarah and Dave Parker of Nampa; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Polly Kennedy of Wellsville, UT, Otto and Suzie Kennedy of Logan, UT, Bert and Julie Kennedy of McMinnville, OR and Frank and Krys Kennedy of Nampa; his grandchildren, Rede Eder, Wendy Detweiler, Damon Eder, Bryce Detweiler, Kiley Detweiler, Adam Kennedy, Jayson Davenport, Joshua Berry, Mattie Kennedy, Charles Davenport, Sally Kennedy, Cory Kennedy, Willie Kennedy, Mark Kennedy and Kattie Kennedy; a sister, Maxine Slater of Lone Pine, CA; and a nephew, Roger Ridgway.
    Memorials may be made to the Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center, 500 W. Fort, Boise, ID 83702 or flowers may be sent.
