Services for Velma M. Higgins, 86, of Nampa, who died Thursday, April 2, at home, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Karcher Church of the Nazarene, corner of Middleton and Karcher roads, Nampa.
    The Rev. Kenneth Ball, associate pastor of the Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, will officiate, assisted by the Revs. Doug Bolles of the La Grande, Ore., Church of the Nazarene and Richard Mark of the Karcher Church of the Nazarene.
    Burial will follow at the Parma Cemetery, under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
    Mrs. Higgins was born April 14, 1900, at Des Moines, Iowa. At an early age she moved with her family to Colorado, where she was reared and educated.  
    She married Floyd M. Higgins June 29, 1919, at Bristol, Colo.  In 1926, they moved to Parma, where they farmed.  In 1956, they to Nampa then later to Parma for a short time.  In 1980, they moved to the Sunnyridge Manor in Nampa.
     Mr. Higgins died Dec. 29, 1983.
    She was a very active member of the Church of the Nazarene having been involved in the Sunday school, World Missionary Society and in the establishing of the Home Mission Church in Unity, Ore.  She was also a member of the W.C.T.U.; the War Eagle Barracks No. 459 Veterans of World War Auxiliary; and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
    She is survived by a son, the Rev. Lyle Higgins of Nampa; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Warren Elwood of Emmett, Viola and Johnny Hawkins of Parma and Lilyanna and Milton Paine of Nampa; a brother, Lester McGee of Las Animas, Colo.; a sister, Oda Bush of Eads, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Floyd L. Higgins Fr.; a daughter-in-law, Louis Higgins in 1986; a granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; three brothers and three sisters.
