Roy Gilbertson

    Roy Gilbertson, 86, of Parma, died Friday, January 8, 1993, at the Caldwell hospital of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1993, at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, with Pastor Walter C. Rice of Faith Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilder Cemetery.
    Roy was born Dec. 12, 1906, at Irene, South Dakota, the son of Olaf A. and Anna Johnson Gilbertson. He was raised and educated at Irene and married Eileen Skov, in Yankton, South Dakota, September 23, 1931. They came to Wilder in 1936 where they farmed until 1972. At that time they moved to Caldwell where they resided until 1985. They then moved to Parma where he has since resided. Eileen passed away December 6, 1991.
    Roy was active in the Senior Citizens organizations and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Caldwell.
    Surviving are six sons, James of Caldwell, Gerald of Boise, Larry of Meridian, Leland of Nampa, Lyndell of Parma and Roger of San Diego, California; two daughters, Eunice Helzer of Boise and Renee Miller of Bothell, Washington; a brother, Harold of Irene, South Dakota; two sisters, Myrtle Johnson of Seattle and Lily Berntson of Port Angeles, Washington; twenty-four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
    In addition to his wife, Roy was preceded in death by two infant sons, an infant daughter, two brothers, a sister and a grandson.
    His family suggests that memorials be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 1915 S. Montana Ave., Caldwell, ID 83605 or flowers may be sent.
