Richard Friddle

Richard W. Russ Steiger of the Melba Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at the Melba Cemetery.
Dick was born at Nampa, Idaho, November 29, 1932, the son of Clen and Edith Seeger Friddle.  He attended Melba Grade School and graduated from Melba High School in 1951.  He married Peggy Frisch, June 8, 1951, in Winnemucca, Nevada, and they farmed at Melba.
In January 1952, he joined the Air Force.  After basic training at San Antonio, Texas, Dick was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, Gulfport, Mississippi.  He was in the 3398th Tech Training Sp. where he taught Electronic Countermeasures.  After his discharge in January 1956 they returned to Melba where they started farming, with his parents.  He and Peggy have two sons, who are in a family partnership with the farming and custom combining business.  Like Dick's father, he passed the farming trade on to his sons.  He continued to farm with his sons until his illness forced him to become less active.
Dick was a member of the Divin Sloneker Post 126, American Legion, Melba, IOOF Lodge #105, Melba.  He was a former member of the Melba Fire Department and Melba Athletic Boosters Club.  He was an instructor at the first Hunters Safety course taught at the Melba schools in 1979.  Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing and snowmobiling, especially in the Owyhees, with family and friends.
Dick is survived by his wife, Peggy, two sons and their wives, Rick and Gayle Friddle and Tom and Mary Friddle, all of Melba; four granddaughters, Sumer Anne and her husband, Brent Bradshaw of Kuna, Heather and Noelle Friddle and Becca Sayers, all of Melba; one grandson, Matthew Friddle of Melba; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Charles Miller of Caldwell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel.
The family wishes to thank the neighbors, friends and MSTI-West Staff and Mercy Hospice Staff for all the wonderful support they have extended over these past two months.  All was deeply appreciated.
Memorials may be sent to MSTI-West, Mercy Hospice, Melba EMT and Melba Senior Center.
