Services for Rex S. Jensen, 96, of Melba, who died Tuesday,
Feb. 10, at the Nampa
hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the
Nampa
First United
Methodist
Church,
404 12th Ave. S.
A son-in-law, the Rev. George McDonough of
Seattle, Wash., will officiate.
Burial will follow at
the Melba Cemetery,
under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Mr. Jensen was born Aug. 2, 1890, at Mt. Pleasant, Utah,
to Sophus E. and Laura L. McArthur Jensen.
He was reared and
educated in Mt. Pleasant
and graduated from the
Wasatch
Presbyterian
Academy
there. He later
attended Cornell University.
After his schooling, he started in the sheep business.
He
married Roxy C. Nilson Nov. 25, 1915, in
Long Beach, Calif. They
returned to Mt. Pleasant,
where he continued in the sheep business.
In 1919, they moved to
Melba, where they purchased a ranch north of town.
In 1930, he went back
into the sheep business and trailed sheep from the Snake River Valley
to Bear Valley and back for many years.
He later started in
the cattle business and land development.
He and
his wife owned and operated the Eldorado Land and Livestock Co. for many years.
He later sold his
cattle but had continued to be active in land development.
He was involved in
developing the Dry Lake farms development south of Nampa. He
also was involved in building the Melba
High School while he was on the
Melba school board.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, past
president of the Idaho Wool Growers Association and had been a
member of the Masonic Lodge for many years.
He
is survived by his wife of Melba: three daughters, Marion L.
James of Melba, R. Elizabeth (Mrs. George) McDonough of
Seattle, and Chrystal J. (Mrs. E.T.) Evans of Boise; seven
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rex L. Jensen; a
daughter, Bonnie M. Jensen; three brothers, Ralph, Harold and
Herschel; and a sister, Chrystal.

Friends may call at the Alsip chapel today from 9 to 11 a.m.
