CALDWELL -
Services for Mrs. Ruth E. Hawk, 51, of 325 West Bannock,
Boise, who died Sunday in a Boise hospital after a short
illness, will be conducted at Homedale's Flahiff Funeral
Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Walden Askren of the
Caldwell First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment
will be at Wilder.
Mrs. Hawk was born April 2, 1917, in Roswell, a daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Swigert of Roswell. She
attended schools at Wilder and was graduated from Wilder High
School.
She was the first woman to enter the Woman's Army Air Corps
at Boise during World War II, enlisting Nov. 24, 1943, and
serving until being honorably discharged Dec. 15, 1945, at
Camp Beals, Calif.
She was married Feb. 6, 1955, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to
Ray E. Hawk, and they lived in Denver until moving to Boise in
1959. They since had lived in Boise, where he is a
pressman at the Idaho Statesman.
Surviving, in addition to Mr. Hawk, are two sisters, Mrs.
Evelyn Maurer of Wilder and Mrs. Helen Corser of Seattle, and
several nieces and nephews. |
