Services for Oliver Keys, 89, of Caldwell, who died Monday,
Nov. 24, at the Caldwell hospital, will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday at the First Baptist Church, 221 E. Linden, Caldwell.
Pastor Dick Shaw will officiate.
Burial will follow at
the Roswell Cemetery,
Roswell, under
the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mr.
Keys was born Jan. 4, 1897, at Cherokee County,
Kan., to William and Mary Kathryn
Jarrett Keys. He was
reared and educated in Cherokee County.
He
taught school in Kansas
and Missouri
for several years.
He married Naomi Sparks March 29, 1920, in
West Plains, Mo. They
lived in Missouri,
Kansas
and Colorado before coming to
the Arena Valley
area near Roswell and Parma in 1927.
He farmed and did carpentry work until 1940, when they
moved to Vallejo.
Calif.
In 1944, they returned
to Caldwell, where he continued carpentering
until his retirement in 1959.
He
enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.
He
was a member of the First Baptist Church of Caldwell and was a
Sunday school teacher for many years.
He was also a member
of the Caldwell Senior Citizens League.
He
is survived by his wife of Caldwell; six sons, Elmer H. Keys
of Redding, Calif., James W. "Bill" Keys of Caldwell, Thomas
O. Keys of Boise,
Lewis
F. and Earnest F. Keys, both of Nampa, and John D. Keys of
Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Jewell (Mrs. Allen)
Fretwell of Greenville. S.C., and Norma (Mrs. Warren ) Hewett
of Everett, Wash.; 31 grandchildren;
41 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by three brothers, four sisters and two grandchildren.
Friends may
call Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to
8 p.m, at the Caldwell Flahiff chapel.

made to the First Baptist
Church, 221 Linden.
