Michel W. Hartley

    Michel Willis Hartley, 89, Jacksonville, Ore., a pioneer Idahoan, died Monday at his home near Medford.
    He was born Oct. 11, 1874, in Pintersville, Mo., to Mr. and Mrs. James Hartley.  He came with his parents by covered wagon in 1880 to the Boise valley, where they homesteaded 240 acres and engaged in farming and cattle raising.  He married Lucy May Cook in 1903 in Caldwell.  She died Aug. 18, 1905, at Caldwell.
    He married Victoria Nielson Nov. 4, 1907, at Missoula, Mont.  They lived for many years in Montana, where he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad.  Later they moved to Oregon.  She died there in June, 1948. He had spent the last 20 years in Oregon in the Medford-Jacksonville area.
    Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Middleton cemetery.  Dr. Harold N. Nye will officiate.  The cortege will leave the Peckham-Dakan-Davis Chapel at 1:30 p.m. for the cemetery.
