Houtman, 91, of Payette, passed away at a Caldwell nursing
home Sunday, May 6, 1990. Graveside services will be
Thursday, May 10, at the Parma Cemetery under the direction of
the Nyssa Lienhemper Chapel.
Mr. Houtman was born July 28, 1898, at Imperial, Neb., to
Julius and Emmalene (VanDyke) Houtman. He was educated in
Huntley, Neb., until he went into farming. He and Cora Stamm
were married on Dec. 25, 1921, at her parents home near
Haigler, Neb. They moved from Wray, Colo., to Lebanon, Ore.,
in 1937 where he worked for the city of Lebanon. In 1944 they
moved to Willowcreek where he farmed until 1949 when they
moved to Big Bend area, Adrian, Ore., where he continued
farming. He retired in 1962 and moved to Gayway Junction near
Payette.
Survivors include a son, Archie "Bud" Houtman of Electric
City, Wash.; four daughters, Margie Turpin of Redlands,
Calif,, Dixie McClure of Portland, Ore., Agnes Thompson of
Caldwell, and Mary Riggs of Wilder; 13 grandchildren, 16
great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three
brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be today, from 6 t o 8 p.m. at the Nyssa
Lienkaemper Chapel.
