Leona Johnson

    Funeral services for Lonnie W. Johnson, 71, of 1823 S. Juniper St., Nampa, who died Tuesday in a Nampa nursing home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa, by the Rev. James Cook of Boise.  Interment will follow in Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa.
    He was born May 1, 1910, in Tulsa, Okla., where he was reared and educated.  He served in the Army special services during World War II.  After his discharge, he lived in Iowa for a short time. vHe moved to Reno, Nev., in 1950, where he owned and operated a custodial business, owned several race horses and managed a nightclub.  He moved to Nampa in 1965, In 1975, he began work for the Nampa Parks Department and later retired.  He was a member and past president of the area chapter of the NAACP.
    He is survived by two sons, Merlin and Lonnie, both of San Diego; and several grandchildren.
