Laurence John
Holton 82, passed away peacefully with his children and wife
by his side at his home on Sept.6, 2002. he was born
Sept. 28, 1919, in Gate, Okla., to Myron and Lela Holton.
Laurence married Grace Evelyn Martin on April 12, 1938.
They started their home in North Powder, Ore., and later moved
to the Notus and Greenleaf area. Laurence was manager
for the Weber cattle ranch for many years. In later
years he worked for Holton Homes owned by his son, David.
He and his wife owned and operated an assisted care living
facility and he served as a 4-H leader.
Laurence has been a n active member of Canyon Hill Nazarene
Church in Caldwell for 44 years and served in many positions.
One of the greatest attributes of Laurence was his love for
people and his Lord and Savior. His life reflected I
Corinthians 13:4-7 - He was patient, kind, not envious, not
boastful, not proud, not rude, not self-seeking, not easily
angered. He kept no record of wrongs but rejoiced with
the truth. He will be greatly missed by those who knew
and loved him.
Besides his parents, brothers Herschel, Virgil and Herbert
Holton preceded Laurence in death.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years; three daughters and
three sons, Leslee and husband, Darrell Stover of Greenleaf,
Sauni Easley of Homedale. Marcia and husband Dale Wilcox of
Lynden, WA, David and wife, Betty of Marsing, Dallas and wife,
Stacy of Nampa and Donald of Boise; 19 grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildren; a brother, Herald; and seven sisters,
Gertrude Curtis, Ruby Gould, Opal Martin, Ruth Hull, Martha
Emery, Virgie Robertson and Lillian Sheirbon.
At Laurence's request there will be no viewing. Family
graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 13, at
Greenleaf Cemetery. Memorial service and tribute to his
life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Canyon Hill
Nazarene, 903 N Michigan, Caldwell, with pastors Don Renchler
and Marshall Vaughn officiating.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be sent to Canyon Hill
Church of the Nazarene. |
