Services for Lois A. Holmes,
81, of Caldwell, who died Tuesday, Aug. 27, in her home, will
be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Midway Bible
Missionary Church by the Rev. George E. Roberts of the Midway
Bible Missionary Church of Caldwell and the Rev. Don Bowman of
Homedale. Interment will follow at the Greenleaf Cemetery
under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel Caldwell.
Mrs. Holmes was born March 18, 1904, in Palco, Kan. She
was reared and educated in Kansas. She attended Hutchinson
Bible School and Olivet Nazarene College at Olivet, Ill. She
taught school for one year before moving to Canyon City,
Colo., with her family.
She married Paul Holmes on Oct. 14, 1926, in Canyon City.
She taught school there for one year before they moved to
Plainville, Kan., in 1928. They lived in several towns in
Kansas before moving to Caldwell in 1937. She taught at the
Huston School from 1945 10 1947.
She was a member of the Midway Bible Missionary Church
where she was active as the organist, pianist and taught the
junior girls Sunday school class for many years. She enjoyed
sewing and sewed many items for the church missionary program.
She oil painted, made quilts and enjoyed all types of sewing.
She is survived by her husband of Caldwell; a son, Elwin
Holmes of Caldwell; three grandchildren, Cindy Baldwin of
Parma and Susan and David Holmes of Caldwell; two
great-grandchildren, Brian and Brenton Baldwin of Parma; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and her parents.
Friends may call at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, from 1
until 8 tonight and Friday from 9 until 10:30 a.m.
