Joseph Slansky

      NAMPA – Requiem Mass for Joseph Slansky Sr., 88, Nampa Route 1, who died Thursday in a Nampa hospital, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.  The Rev. Fr. Thomas Jones will be celebrant.  Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
     Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Shepherd Chapel.
    He was born Dec. 21, 1877, in Czechoslovakia, and came to the United States in 1902 where he lived in Cleveland, Ohio.  In 1912, he established a tailoring business in Albequerque, N.M. where he worked for two years.  He married Bessie Mae Kaba, Jan. 16, 1912, at Plainville, Kan.  They moved to Hutchinson, Kan. in 1915, and to Nampa in 1929.  He farmed I the Lone Star area until his retirement in 1946.
   Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Vera Guinn of Nampa, and Mrs. Marcie Waldron of Anchorage, Alaska; two sons, Dr. Cyril Slansky of Idaho Falls and Joseph Slansky Jr. of Nampa; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
   Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
