James E. Green, 71, of
Middleton, died Monday, January 6, 1992, at his home. Funeral
services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 1992,
at the Caldwell First Christian Church. Lon Sassman, minister
of the First Christian Church and Larry Green will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Middleton Cemetery. Services
are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mr. Green was born September 9, 1920, in Malheur County,
Oregon, to Orval F. and Helen Jillson Green. He was raised
near Weiser and moved to the Lincoln Heights area between
Ontario and Vale where he farmed with his father. He entered
the U.S. Army September 8, 1942, and served in the Philippine
Islands during World War I1 and received two Bronze Battle
Stars. He was honorably discharged October 4, 1945. After
his discharge he returned to the family farm and in 1948 he
purchased land near Middleton. He cleared the land and turned
it into a very productive farm and had resided there since.
He received numerous awards from Amalgamated Sugar Co. for
top yield and top sugar production.
Mr. Green was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Disabled
American Veterans.
He is survived by a sister, Lillian I,. Schutt of
Caldwell; two brothers, Ed O.
Green of Caldwell and Dale G. Green of Middleton;
and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and
great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pearl
McEvoy; and a brother, Mike. |
