CALDWELL -
John A. Holton, 79, Greenleaf, died Tuesday in a local
hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1887, at Marysville, Kan.
He moved with his parents to Gate, Okla., where he farmed and
homesteaded. He was married to Myrtle Still Feb. 19,
1911, at Gate, Okla. They moved to Kansas in 1920, where
they lived until the moved to Colorado in 1934. They
then moved to Greenleaf, and stayed for a short time, then
returned to Concordia, Kan., and lived for 10 years.
They they returned to Greenleaf, where they have since
resided.
He as a farmer and stockman, and retired in 1958.
He was a member of the Greenleaf Academy Board, Greenleaf
Friends Church, and an elder and trustee of the Greenleaf
Friends Church. he had taught Sunday School for 60
years.
Surviving are his wife; five sons, Albert Holton of
Concordia, Kan., Floyd, of Fruitland, Rex, of Boise, Charles
of Caldwell, and John, of Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy
Trost and Mrs. Betty McIndoo, both of Greenleaf; a brother,
Eldon Holton of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Mabel
Secrist, Carnegie, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and 32
great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Greenleaf
Friends Church. Interment will be in the Greenleaf
Cemetery under direction of Peckham-Dakan Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be given to the Greenleaf Academy. A
daughter, Mrs. Mildred Fisk, preceded him in death. |
