Harold Wilmot
Carpenter, 95, of Caldwell, formerly of Wilder, departed this
life to be present with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2000,
at a Caldwell hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30
a.m. Monday, May 15, at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Interment will be at the Wilder Cemetery, Wilder.
Harold was born April 21, 1905, at Gate, Oklahoma, to
Cornelius
Ernestus and Edith Wilmot Carpenter, the third of eight
children, seven boys and one girl. He grew up and farmed in
the wheat
country in Oklahoma. On May 20, 1925, he was married toStella
Hanzl. They continued to farm in Oklahoma until 1935, when
they moved to Idaho. They settled on a farm in the Fargo
Community southwest of Wilder, Idaho, and continued farming
until their retirement.
Due to increasing health concerns, they moved to the Autumn
Winds assisted living facility in Caldwell, Idaho, in 1998.
Harold was a man who loved and enjoyed life. He was always
up-beat and looked forward to having family and friends stop
by for a visit. He and Stella were good travelers and enjoyed
several trips they were privileged to take. Of special
interest were their visit to the Roy Rogers Museum in
Victorville, California, and their visit to Hawaii.
Harold was a good neighbor, always ready with a friendly
smile
and a helping hand when needed. When he was a young man, he
professed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal
Savior. His life was an example of how a Christian is suppose
to live. He was a role model to his family, as well as to all
who knew him. Every grandchild, as well as many others, looked
up to him with love and pride. His cheerful attitude and
strength of character will continue to be reflected in his
posterity for many years to come.
He and Stella would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary
on May 20th. In addition to his wife, Stella, he is survived
by three daughters, Lorene, Mrs. Ralph Cornwell, of Boise, ID,
Dolores, Mrs. Sid Harris, of Caldwell, ID, and Gloria, Mrs.
Fay Ferrenburg of Eugene, OR; nine grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four
brothers, Clifford Carpenter of St. Helens, OR, Randall
Carpenter of Fruitland, ID, Harry Carpenter of Caldwell, ID,
and Rex Carpenter of Vale, OR; numerous nieces and nephews
plus
a host of friends remaining to remember Harold.
He was preceded in death by twin daughters, two brothers, one
sister and one great-granddaughter.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 14, at the
Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. |
