Harold Hodson

    Graveside services for Harold Hodson, 80, of Greenleaf, who died Tuesday, Aug. 5, at home of natural causes, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Greenleaf Cemetery.  A memorial service will follow at the Greenleaf Friends Church.  Pastor Don Lammb of the Greenleaf Friends Church will officiate under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
    Mr. Hodson was born in Newberg, Ore., Jan. 17, 1906, to John and Levina Scott Hodson.  He spent his youth on his father's homestead helping him farm.  He graduated from Pacific Academy in Newberg.
    He married Eva May Hintz June 2, 1929.  They built their first home and had four children on his father's homestead.  They moved to Springbrook after his father's death in 1941.
    He worked at the local cannery and at a life float plant in Newberg during World War II.  In 1945, they moved to Idaho where he farmed with his brother, Ervin, in the Dixie area.  He worked at Mountain Bell Telephone Co. for 17 1/2 years as a maintenance engineer, retiring in 1971.
    He and his wife traveled throughout Idaho and the Northwest camping, fishing and visiting their children during his retirement years.
    He was a member of Greenleaf Friends Church for 41 years.
    He is survived by his wife of Greenleaf; a son, H. Robert Hodson of McCall; three daughters, Eva Pursley of Hillsboro, Ore., Alice Clark of Gresham, Ore., and Levina Lawson of Dundee, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
    Memorials may be made to the Greenleaf Friends Church in care of Dakan Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 1386, Caldwell 83606.
