Harley Tuning

Harley Edward Tuning, son of John and Martha Pressnall Tuning, was born April 6, 1897, at Allen Nebraska. He was called to his Eternal home, October 18, 1964, having lived 67 years, 6 months, and 12 days.
He moved to Idaho in 1920, and was united in marriage to Glenna Dines at Greenleaf, October 28, 1923. Harley attended the Bible seminary of Greenleaf Academy two years, and continued his Bible studies at Pacific Bible Institute, Portland, Oregon during the year of 1927. Harley and Glenna returned to Greenleaf to enter the employment of Boise Project Board of Control; and continued this occupation for 37 years - until his final illness forced retirement.
Those who live to cherish the memories of his life are; Glenna, his companion of the home in Greenleaf; two sons, Gerald, of Hermiston, Oregon; Delbert, of Star, Idaho; and a daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Littlefield of Tigard, Oregon. There are three grandsons and three granddaughters. There are five brothers; Walter and Jess of Caldwell; Evert, of Sprague River, Oregon; Theo, of Meadows, Idaho and Raymond of Kamiah, Idaho; three sisters; Mrs. Olive Piersall of Caldwell, Idaho; Mrs. Viola Fleming of Lancaster, California; and Mrs. Bethel Cronrath of Nampa, Idaho. With these are other relatives and many friends.
Harley was an associate member of the Friends Church by birth, and chose to become an active member after accepting Christ as his Saviour, and has been a member of the Greenleaf Church since moving to Idaho. He confided to his pastor that a new, deep consecration to his Lord in 1950 resulted in a more vital and fruitful Christian experience. His strong faith in God's promises and his earnest, fervent prayer life --both in the Church and in his daily walks along the fields and canals, and the roads and lanes of Greenleaf community -- have not only molded his Christian character, but also brought many deliverances from afflictions and trials of life. One of his sisters paid tribute to his life as it is expressed in Isaiah 41, verse 6. "They helped everyone his neighbor and everyone said to his brother, be of good courage." Even in his last illness he continued to witness to his deep concern for the spiritual growth of the church, his heart yearning to see neighbors and loved ones accept Christ, and of his love for the many Christian friends whose encouragement meant so much to him. Because of this, he and his companion requested that instead of floral gifts there would be memorial donations to Greenleaf Friends Academy and to the American Cancer Society.
