Services for George S.
Hager, 65, of Parma, who died of natural causes Friday, Aug.
2, in a Caldwell hospital, will be held at 10:30 a.m.,
Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the Kirkpatrick Memorial Church, Parma.
The Rev. Paul F. Evans will officiate. Burial will follow
in the Parma Cemetery, under the direction of Dakan Funeral
Chapel, Caldwell.
Mr. Hager, a retired serviceman for Idaho Power, was born
April 5, 1920, in Broadford, Idaho to Albert and Florence
Hunter Hager. He was reared and attended school in the
Bellevue area, graduating from Bellevue High School in 1939.
He married Dorothy Jean Valahos June 10, 1940, in Hailey. In
September of 1943 he entered the U.S. Army. He served during
World War II with the rank of master sergeant in the Fourth
Signal Battalion. He was honorably discharged in April of
1946. Following his discharge, the family lived at Bellevue.
He became employed by the Idaho Power Co. at Hailey in 1947
and worked as a troubleshooter and serviceman. In 1951 they
moved to Payette, and in 1952 to Parma where they had since
resided. He retired from Idaho Power in 1982. He had owned
and operated a business known as Mr. Fixit in Parma.
During his residency in Parma he had been very active in many
community affairs and activities including being Boy Scout
master in the 1950s. He had donated much of his time to the
young people of Parma in both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
He had also served four years as a city councilmn (sic) and
was city building inspector for the city of Parma at the time
of his death.
He was an active member of Kirkpatrick Memorial Community
Church and had taught Sunday school there. He was also a
member of the Parma Rod and Gun Club and Parma Lodge 49,
AF&AM.
He is survived by his wife in Parma; three daughters,
Linda Kaye Graves of Nampa, Jennifer Jean Gray of Spokane,
Wash., and Shauna Marie Brown of Boise; a sister, Dorothy
Wurst of Meridian; three grandchildren, Taunya Chaney, Sheila
Gray and Chase W. Brown; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant
daughter and three sisters.
