Gerald L. Jensen,
66, of Caldwell, died Sunday,
March 7, 1993, in
Singapore, of natural causes,
while visiting his youngest daughter.
Funeral services will
be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 1993, at the
Caldwell,
Idaho North Stake Center on Old
Highway 30 north of the junction of Highway 30 and Highway 44.
Bishop James W.
Radford will officiate. Burial
will follow at the Middleton Cemetery.
Services are under the
direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Gerald was born
December 28, 1926, at Woodville,
Bingham County, Idaho, to James Leland and Blanche Jensen.
He was the first of
seven children.
He served as a machinist on the U.S.S. Davison, in the
U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married Mary Helen Fielding November 27, 1946, at
Shelly, Idaho. Gerald
worked and farmed in eastern Idaho before homesteading
on the Black Canyon Irrigation Project in, 1950.
He has farmed in the
same location for the past 44 years.
In 1961 at the age of
35, he received the award for the Outstanding Young Fanner for Canyon County
presented by the Jaycees, for his service to agriculture,
community, church and family.
He served as
president for the Middleton PTA, chairman of the Planning and
Zoning Commission and was chairman of the Canyon County Board
of Commissioners. During
his life he was an active member of the Caldwell Kiwanis Club
and Caldwell Rotary Club. He
supported the Boy Scout movement and contributed to many
charitable organizations.
Gerald was an active member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions of
service. He served as
president of both the Caldwell and Caldwell North Stakes of
the church.
His
wife, Helen died in 1973 and he married Teresa Yeaw Collins in
1974. Together they
served two Family History Missions for
LDS
Church, the first in South Africa and the second in England and Scotland.
Gerald enjoyed
work, and occasionally took time to hunt, fish, travel and
visit with friends and relatives.
Gerald is survived
by his wife, Teresa of Caldwell; his mother Blanche Jensen of
Blackfoot; three sisters, Maxine Evans of Salem, Oregon,
Margene Hall of Blackfoot and Barbara Wahlen of Ririe; four
sons and their wives, Norm and Bonnie Jensen of Boise, Nephi
Lynn and Ruby Jensen of Green River, Wyoming, Ray and
Charlotte Jensen of Boise and Greg and Donna Jensen of
Midland, Texas; two daughters and their husbands, Pam and Ric
Mullis of Southlake, Texas, and Rosemary and Tom Bell of
Singapore; and 31 grandchildren.
Gerald's family
wishes to greet their friends at the Dakan Funeral Chapel in
Caldwell
from 7 to 9 p.m. today and also Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
in the Relief Society Room at the
Stake
Center.
Memorials may be
made to the Family
History
Center, a favorite
charity, or flowers may be sent.
