May Hodson

    May Hodson was born the daughter of Albert G. and Lucilla L. (Allumbaugh) Hintz on Monday, November 1, 1909 in Newberg, Oregon.
    She grew up and went to school in Chehalem Center and attended Newberg High School.  On June 2, 1929, she was married to Harold J. Hodson in Newberg and they lived in Caldwell, Idaho for the next 40 years.  After Harold's death in 1986, May returned to Newberg where whe has lived until the present.  Since the age of 18, May has been a member of the Friends Church.  She taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the church choir and while living in Newberg was a member of West Chehalem Friends Church.  She was active in the women's missionary group and enjoyed many women's retreats.  Everywhere she was, May would always do anything to help anyone that she could.  She enjoyed poetry and wrote many poems which her family published in a book.  Quilting for family and friends was also something she loved and she made quilts for many babies and as gifts.
    On Wednesday, December 22, 1993, May Hodson died at a Newberg Care Home from causes related to age when she was 84 years, 1 month and 21 days of age.
    Surviving and left to honor her life are: one son, Robert Hodson of Newberg; three daughters, Eva May Pursley of Hillsboro, Alice I. Clark of Gresham and Levina L. Lawson of Dundee; two brothers, Emil Hintz and Ralph Hintz of Portland; two sisters, Bessie Huffman of Newberg and Ruby Pipkin of Denison, Texas; twelve grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and those who have come to know and appreciate her where she has lived and worked.
    Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
    Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 27, 1 p.m. at West Chehalem Friends Church with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating.  Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 29, 11 a.m. at Greenleaf Cemetery, Greenleaf, Idaho. Attrell's Newberg Chapel, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.
