NAMPA – Requiem Mass for Dr. John W. “Jack” Garrity, 78, 1323
12th Ave. S., Nampa, who died at his home Sunday
from natural causes, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday
at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Edward J.
McMonagle, S.M., as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt.
Calvary Cemetery. Rosary Devotions will be recited at the
Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa, Sunday at 8 p.m.
Dr. Garrity was born Feb. 2, 1898 at Anaconda, Mont. He
moved with his parents to Nampa in 1902 and attended schools
here. He graduated from Gonzaga University at Spokane, Wash.,
and obtained his dental degree from Marquette University in
Milwaukee, Wis. He practiced dentistry in the old Dewey
Palace Hotel building and retired about 13 years ago. He
married Pearl Woodford in 1945 at Nampa. She preceded him in
death April 30, 1971. Dr. Garrity served in the United States
Army during World War I. He was a member of St. Paul’s
Catholic Church, Nampa American Legion, Joseph Murray Post No.
18; and Nampa elks Lodge No. 1389.
He is survived by two brothers, Clarence Garrity,
Oakland, Calif., and Adin Garrity, Coeur d’Alene; two sisters,
Mrs. Joe Cerva, Twin Falls, and Mrs. Reid (Margaret) Robinson,
Nampa. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by two
brothers and one sister. |
