Graveside services for Clare
Howard, 82, of Caldwell, who died Thursday, Jan. 15, at a
Caldwell nursing home, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the
Greenleaf Cemetery, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral
Chapel, Caldwell.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the
Nampa Friends Church.
Mr. Howard was born Oct. 23, 1904, in Union, Iowa, to
Charles B. and Grace Harris Howard. He moved with his family
to Idaho in 1908, and together with his father cleared the
land that he would later farm until his death.
He graduated from Greenleaf Friends Academy in 1924.
He married Marie Settle Oct. 9, 1933, at the Greenleaf
Friends Church.
He had been a part owner in the Caldwell Sales and
Commission, working as a sales clerk from the 1930s until
1970.
He was a leader in his church, active in the community and
dedicated to the work of the Boise Rescue Mission.
He was a member of the Nampa Friends Church.
He is survived by his wife of Caldwell; a son, Charles
Howard of Caldwell; two daughters, Joan Emry of Boise and
Marjorie Moon of Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, Horace
Howard of Clemons, Iowa, and Wallace Howard of Tuolumne,
Calif.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth. Friends
may call Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m.
to noon at the Caldwell Flahiff chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Boise Rescue Mission or to
Greenleaf Friends Academy. |
