Charlotte 'Iverna' Hibbs

    Charlotte "Iverna" Hibbs, 75, of Greenleaf, Idaho, died Monday, May 29, 1995, at home, of natural causes.  Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 5, 1995, at 10:30 a.m. at the Greenleaf Cemetery.  This will be followed by a Memorial and Praise service at 11 a.m., at the Greenleaf Friends Church.  Pastor Don Lamm and Rev. Wayne Piersall will officiate, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel.
    lverna was born August 12, 1919, at Greenleaf, Idaho, to Claude and Marie Presnall Hirst.  At the age of 4, the family moved to Potlatch, Idaho.  The family later moved back to Greenleaf.  Iverna attended grade school at the Greenleaf Grade School and graduated from Greenleaf Friends Academy in 1937.  She attended 2 years at Cascade College in Portland, Oregon.
    She married her high school sweetheart, Leland Hibbs on September 24, 1940.  They farmed in the Greenleaf area until 1946.  They moved to Springbrook, Oregon, where they spent six years as pastors of the Springbrook Friends Church.  In November 1951 they were appointed to the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends Church's mission field in Bolivia, South America.  They served there until May, 1960.  They arrived back in the Greenleaf area, where they farmed until Lelands retirement in 1979.  They returned to Peru, South America, in the fall of 1979 for a short term for Northwest Yearly Meeting and again in the fall of 1983 via Israel and Lesotho, Africa.  They were there until March of 1983, when Leland passed away.
    Iverna helped her husband In farming, drove school bus, bilingual education teacher in Nampa, secretary at GFA and most recently for Reinco Construction.  Church organist, pianist for the Greenleaf Brass and her passion, writing.  
    Iverna is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Jan Hibbs, Haiti, Carol and Fran Hibbs, Wilder, Ken and Devonne Hibbs, Greenleaf; one sister and brother-in-law, Willa and Wayne Piersall of Hayden Lake, Idaho; one aunt and uncle, Orpha and Forrest Cammack, Salem, Oregon; eleven grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Heather Hibbs, Vancouver, Washington, Jeff and Kerry Hibbs, Caldwell, Chris Hibbs, Boise, Shane Comstock, Ashton, Idaho, CeAnne and Chris Cardinale, Boise, Cody Hibbs, Wilder, Julie and Sherman Thornton, Wilder, Jerrie and Michael Walters, Georgia, Kerrie Fillmore, Greenleaf, Darrin Hibbs, Greenleaf, Audra Hibbs, Greenleaf; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leland.
    Friends may call at the Dakan Chapel on Sunday from 2 until 6 p.m. Memorials may be given to Greenleaf Friends Church Music Fund.
