Billy Wayne Hodge, 67, of Fruitland, died March 30, 1997, at an Emmett hospital.  Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday at the Fruitland High School gymnasium.  Burial will follow at the Wilder Cemetery in Wilder.  The Rev. Bill Sperry of the Fruitland Highway Assembly will officiate, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
    Bill was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Ava, Missouri, the fourth child of nine, born to Fred and Alta Hodge.  He moved with his family to Wilder in 1940, where he attended and graduated from school. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Frankie Jean Quigley, Aug. 25, 1950.  He worked for the Owyhee Telephone Co., the Caldwell Police Department, American Fine Foods and also ran a service station and ambulance service in Payette.  After living and working on a ranch in Nevada for two years, he moved his family back to Fruitland in 1963.  Bill attended barber school and opened his own shop at Gayway Junction in 1970.  Two years later he moved to downtown Fruitland where he operated Bill's Clip and Style until he was forced to retire in 1995 due to ill health.  He also drove school bus at Fruitland for 19 1/2 years.
    Bill served 19 years on the Payette County Fair Board.  He was Exalted Ruler for the Ontario Elks Lodge, served as a volunteer fireman and was a member of the Jaycees.  He was also the second president of the Fruitland Chamber of Commerce in 1980.
    Bill was a sports booster for many years and was issued a lifetime pass to all home athletic events by the Fruitland School District.
    Bill was an active member of Highway Assembly of God and served as a board member for several years.  He also saved at the district level in the Lifestyle Evangelism Department of the Assemblies of God.
    He served in the Idaho National Guard for nearly 20 years.  Bill was also very proud of being honored as a ten-gallon blood donor by the American Red Cross.
    In 1989 he was the grand marshall for the annual Payette County Fair parade.  Most recently the Fruitland Chamber of Commerce honored Bill as the Citizen of the Year for 1996.
    Bill loved to go camping in the mountains, along with hunting, fishing, sight-seeing, yard work and going trail riding with his friends.
    He is survived by his wife, Frankie of Fruitland; one son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Shirley of Fruitland; a daughter, Sheryl and son-in-law, Roger McEwen of Wasilla, Alaska; his mother, Alta; brothers and sisters-in-law, Doyle and Wilma of Caldwell, Delbert and Ellen of Weiser, Ernie and Nadine of Fruitland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Dick Blood of Caldwell and Patsy and Clifford Looney of Ontario; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  
    He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and one sister.
