Services for Bertha Jane
Beckley Higgins, 85, formerly of New Plymouth, who died
Wednesday, Nov. 10, of natural causes at a Caldwell nursing
home, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dakan
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, by Bishop Ross Hansen of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Middleton. Interment
will follow at the Middleton Cemetery, Middleton.
She was born March 15, 1897, in Rooks County, Kan., to
Susie and Almeron Webster, and was reared and educated there.
She married Samuel Earl Beckley on Aug. 26, 1914, and they
moved to Idaho from Kansas in 1937. He died June 6, 1956.
She married Harley Lee Higgins on Oct. 24, 1961. They lived
in the Payette, New Plymouth area until he died in October of
1979. She has since resided in Caldwell.
She is survived by five daughters, Hazel Hebert and Creta
Hargis of New Plymouth, Beulah Fowler of Inkom, Dorothy Cardon
of Caldwell and Dorma Lee Nelson of Fairbanks, Alaska; two
sons, Wilber Beckley of Yakima, Wash., and Delbur Beckley of
Rexburg; two sisters, Kate Weaver of Fontana, Calif. and
Myrtle Brunet of Longmont, Colo.; one brother, Frank Webster
of West Plains, Mo.; 38 grandchildren, 105 great-grandchildren
and 21 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, three
brothers, one sister and three grandsons.
Friends may call at the chapel today from 4 to 9 p.m.
