Belle Holsclaw, 87, of
Parma, died Monday, February 1, 1993, at the Caldwell hospital
of natural causes. Funeral services will be conducted at 10
a.m. Thursday, February 4, 1993, at Kirkpatrick Memorial
Community Church, Parma. Rev. Donald J. Brown of the Friends
Church, Star, will officiate. Burial will follow at the
Wilder Cemetery under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell-Parma.
Mrs. Holsclaw was born June 18, 1905, at Rising City,
Nebraska, to France and Susie From. She was raised on a farm
6 miles from Rising City and attended school in a one-room
schoolhouse. Belle helped her parents on the farm until she
was 17 years old. She then worked in a store in Rising City
testing cream and waiting on customers. She also worked as
assistant postmaster in Rising City for 3 or 4 years. She
liked working outdoors. She married William LeRoy Holsclaw
August 29, 1930. To this union 10 children were born, 2 died
early in life.
Belle was a R.S.V.P. worker and an "Echo" caller for the
Parma Senior Citizens. She had also served as president for
the Friendship Circle of Parma.
Due to ill health she moved from the Senior Citizens
Housing in Parma to the Odd Fellows Home in Caldwell on
January 2, I 1990, where she had since resided.
Survivors include her 8 children, Edward James Holsclaw of
Fort Lupton, CO, Francis Eugene Holsclaw of Lovelock, NV,
Annabelle Sitts of Parma, ID, Mable Mae Colley of Caldwell,
ID, John L. Holsclaw of Mountain Home, I ID, William Fredrick
Holsclaw of Stayton, OR, Robert Dale Holsclaw of Boise, ID,
and Virgil Ray Holsclaw of Parma, ID; 2 sisters, Maude and
Edith of Nebraska; 30 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 6
great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William
on June 27, 1984; a son; a daughter; a sister and 3 brothers.
Friends may call today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Dakan
Chapel, Caldwell, and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dakan Chapel,
Parma.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Parma Senior
Citizens. |
