Andy Hopkins, 81, of Wilder,
passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 1995, at a Nampa retirement
center. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, August 8, 1995, at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell. Nephews Bobby Hopkins and Bill Hopkins will
officiate. Burial will follow at the Wilder Cemetery.
Andy was born September 21, 1913, at Cassville, Missouri,
to Alexander J. and Ethel Stubblefield Hopkins. He moved with
his family to Idaho in February, 1920, at the age of six and
attended school in Roswell, ID. He married Irene French on
June 4, 1932, at Ontario, OR, and Andy and Irene were married
62 years. Irene passed away on June 19, 1994. The couple had
farmed in the Parma/Wilder area and moved to their farm in
Wilder in 1946, living there until retiring to Karcher Estates
in Nov., 1993. Andy started farming with a team of horses and
farmed all his life. He bought and sold cattle, milked cows
for several years and raised quarter horses.
He was a member of the Lower Snake River Valley Quarter
Horse Association, a past president of the Wilder PTA and was
an avid supporter of the Wilder Schools. Andy never knew a
stranger and enjoyed his life to the fullest.
He is survived by three daughters, Darlene Matthews of
Nampa, Nona and her husband, Bill Hickox of Wilder, and Cathy
and her husband Mike Sanford of LaGrande, OR; a sister and
brother-in-law, Edith and Homer Hatch of Mountain Home;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Varner and Irma Hopkins of
Adrian, OR, Albert and Marie Hopkins and Bob and Betty
Hopkins, all of Parma; brother-in-law, Wayne and Dorothy
French of Boise and Frances French of Parma; 8 grandchildren;
8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a
brother, Herman, and an infant son.
The family suggest memorials to the Doug Edwards Memorial
Scholarship Fund in care of Wilder High School or to the
Wilder Quick Response Unit.
