Graveside services for Albert Kiester, 86, of Homedale, who
died Thursday, Feb. 1, 1990, at a Homedale nursing home, will
be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at the Wilder Cemetery.
The Rev. Clare
Willcuts, Nampa, will officiate under the direction
Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale.
Friends are asked to
meet at the cemetery.
Mr. Kiester Was born Jan, 31, 1904, at
Canton, Mo. a son of Frank and Johnna W. Pardike
Kiester. At the age of
12 he moved with his family to Colorado
and then to Wisconsin.
He logged in
Wisconsin
for several years and worked for a construction company in
Wisconsin
and Minnesota
building dams. He came
to Idaho in 1928 and married Evelyn Hixson at Boise.
The couple moved to Michigan where he worked, for the Gerber Baby
Food Co. for a time. He
returned to construction work and in 1931 they moved to Melba
where he worked on a ranch in the Reynolds Creek area.
He
married Nellie Stohler in 1940 in Michigan and they returned to Idaho in 1943.
She died in 1958.
In 1947 he went to
work for the Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked until his
retirement in 1969. He
married Thelma I. Hyde Swiggart March 6, 1965, at
Winnemucca, Nev. She
died in 1978. Al
enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and flowers.
He
was a member of the AFL-CIO.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Spriggs of
La Mesa, Calif.; a
son-in-law, Matt Feltman of
Boise; eight grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene, six brothers and
a sister.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Homedale
Senior Citizens.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Homedale.
