Could you give me any inf. on Norwich it is a small town in Page County. My gggrandmother ( Christiania Jones Tempest ) and her 2nd husband William Tempest lived there or at least he died there in about 1908. I would like inf. on how big the town is, where I should write for obits, churchs, cemeteries, land records. What is the county seat? Is there a genealogy society or library anywhere? I live in NE so might be able to make a trip over if I could find locations of burials etc. Thanks for any help

Submitter: Kevin Rice THRAPP, Noah
Dear Mr. Sarrett:
I appreciated finding information on the Noah Thrapp family on your site. The proper spelling for his wife is Agnes Margaret Waddell (her father is said to have been from Scotland). Married in 1878 in Plattsville, [Taylor Co.] IA. Son Asa was known to have served in the Spanish American War and WWI, died around 1950 not married. My great aunt Ada married Fred Bolte and died about 1970 in Downey, CA with no children.
My g-grandmother was Holly Carolyn. My mother has an obituary for Noah. I know nothing of his father Charles or earlier.
Thank you, Kevin Rice Orange, CA ([email protected])

I was thrilled to find the Thrapp family history on this site.
My husbands grandmother was Etta Myrtle Thrap Boyd.
I would just like to add a little to it. To the union of Etta Myrtle Thrap and William Swan Boyd were born two children:
Yvonne Belle born on 16 Jan 1922 and died in Jan 1969
Harry Boyd do not know his birth date , but he died abt 1997 0r 98 in Texas. Will look this info up. Yvonne married Lester Pierson and had one child, Rita, born 12 Jul 1943. Yvonne married Harold Glenn Butler on 17 Jan 1944 in Omaha, Neb. They had five children:
Melvin Harry born 25 Feb 1945
Rose Marie born 17 May 1946
James Allen born 15 Jun 1947
Joe D born 3 Jul 1950
Morris William born 13 Oct 1951
Yvonne married for the third time to Lloyd Hopple.
Harry was married the first time to Betz Suske. They had one child that died and is buried in Gatesville, Texas. His widow, I don't know if it is a second or more marriage, is named Mary and lives in Kerrville, Texas.
Thanks so much for the family history. It has closed a big gap in my husbands family tree.

Hello,
Robert McClellan THOMAS b 1861, s/o Samuel Kyles THOMAS
I am researching th above named individual. I find him in the 1880 Pearce Twp, Page, Iowa Census. He is listed with father S.K THOMAS.. He also has brother Sylvester (I think, it was difficult to read); Isaac, Abraham, and sister Mary A.. Robert Married Mary Elizabeth ROSS. Her brother, Samuel Marion ROSS married Robert's sister, Mary A. THOMAS. Robert was born in , Washington, Johnson, Iowa, 16 Nov 1861. If anyone has any data on this family, I would love to hear from them. I working on this line for my 12 year old niece. It is her paternal line. Thanks!

Dear Mr. Sarret, I have been working on my family tree and came across your article on USGenWeb. My great grandmothers name was Emma Jane THompson of Bradyville, Page County. Born 2/12/1850 there d. 3/17/1929 Codell, Kansas. Married at Bradyville to Isaac Conger. I have Isaac's obit and a memorial on the Congers and Emma's mother is mentioned as Eliza, a widow who remarried Wesley Farrens. I am trying to find out her birth father's name. He was killed in an accident. I am looking for dates for him and Eliza and how he was killed. Also, Eliza's maiden name. I saw George Wesley Farrens on your list. I could trade you for Isaac and Emma's descendent tree. They had 9 children, 8 in Kansas and one Lida Estella Conger at Emma's family home in Bradyville.
Thank you,

I am doing some research on my Newman line. One of the Newmans that I seek to know more about is a Martha Washington Newman who married a Winfield Thorne. They apparently had a son named William Henry Thorne and a daughter named Emma Rozella (or maybe Rosella) Thorne.
I find Winfield S. THORN, as the head of household in the Page county,
Colfax township, 1900 census
   Winfield THORN, age 60 b. 1840
   Wife Martha W. (NEWMAN), age 51 b. 1849
   1. Dau: Emma, age 31 b. 1869
   2. Son: William, age 25 b. 1875

In the 1910 census I find in the same county and township
   William THORN, age 34 b. 1876
   Wife: Jennie, age 29 b. 1881
   1. Son Theodore, age 2 b. 1908
   2. Dau: Leona (? - census taker's writing not too clear).
I am searching for any Thorne family members, past records as well as current descendants, and thought I'd start in Page county. Anybody there have any Thorne's in their side (excuse the pun!) I'd appreciate any info re any of the ones I mentioned or any other connections. My e-mail address is [email protected] and I check it every day. Thanks.

I saw you site while surfing the net. I was raised in the province of Alberta, Canada, but my great-grand parents immigrated from Villisca, Iowa in 1904.
My great-grandfather was James Rheuben Troute and my great-grand grandmother was Maud Troute (McNeal).
James had several brothers and sisters, and I would like to make contact with those descendents.
Maud had only one brother, named Frank McNEAL, b. 1868 d. 1942, a74y, Page Co., buried Rose Hill Cemetery, Hepburn, Vally Twp., IA where a double headstone marks his grave [Row 1, Lot 3] married Millicent WILLIAMS; b. 1870; d. 1953, a83y buried along side her husband; I would also like to contact his descendants.
The parents of both James and Maud are, to my knowledge, buried in a cemetary somewhere in Page County.
Any help would be much appreciated, as we are planning a Troute family reunion in southern Alberta in August 1999.
Thank you and regards...........
