MUSCATINE,
Iowa--Ernest R. Ziegenhorn, 73, of Muscatine, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003,
at his home.
Funeral
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral
Home. The Rev. Don Swanson of the First Baptist Church will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Leo Herlein, Ed Hogan, Alan Ricketts, Clayle McCaw,
Dwight Irwin and Ed Ziegenhorn. Honorary Bearers will be Bob Phillips,
Richard Fuller, Roy Miller, Bob Lewig, A. J. Whitney, and Harlo Ricketts.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials
may be made to the Iowa City Hospice or the American Baptist Women.
Mr.
Ziegenhorn was born on May 4, 1929, in Rock Island County, the son of Benjamin
and Ella Dunker Ziegenhorn. He married Margaret Ann Reynolds on Dec.
1, 1950, at the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Muscatine.
He
was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge No. 388.
He
worked at Hoffman Silo Company for over 40 years retiring in 1994.
He
was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving as a Sergeant in the US Army.
Survivors
include two daughters, Lori Ziegenhorn and her partner, Murray Bouschlicher
of Iowa City, and Lisa Mathis and her husband, Mike, of Muscatine; three
grandchildren, Kasey Mathis of Cedar Rapids, Seth Mathis of Cedar Rapids,
and Lane Mathis of Muscatine; one brother, Howard Ziegenhorn and his wife,
Mildred, of Lakeland, Florida; five sisters, Erma Fowler of Muscatine,
Evelyn Metcalfe of Bettendorf, Marjorie Sloat of Muscatine, Mary Ricketts
and her husband, Harlo, of Illinois City, and Betty Whitney and her husband,
A.J., of Muscatine; two sisters-in-law, Betty Ziegenhorn of Aledo, Il.,
and Norma Wiese of Durant.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret, on Dec. 25, 2001,
and one brother, Melvin Ziegenhorn.
