Clara M. Fagrelius, 78, 1105 E. 7th St., died Wednesday at Muscatine General Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation is after 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clara Fagrelius was born Sept. 26, 1900, in Muscatine, the daughter of Henry C. and Anna Louisa Kink Gerth.  She was a life resident of this community.  Her marriage to Alex R. Fagrelius took place March 21, 1947, in Muscatine.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Louis (Jean) Qualls of Muscatine; four grandchildren raised by her, Mrs. Robert (Judy) Beatty, Mrs. Mike (Sandra) Waack and James Qualls, all of Muscatine, and Larry Qualls of Davenport; and one brother, Fred Gerth of Muscatine.  She was preceded in death by her husband, seven brothers and four sisters.

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa -- Viola Faler, 86, of Columbus Junction, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at her daughter's home in Quincy, Ill.

A Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Indian Creek Cemetery of Columbus Junction.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m.  Friday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction. Memorial may be made to the Columbus City United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Faler was born July 12, 1914, in Muscatine, the daughter of Albert and Mary Eis Wedekind. She married Ralph Faler on Feb. 13, 1932, in Morrison, Ill. He died in February 1986.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Columbus City United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include two sons, David Faler and his wife, Janice, of Columbus Junction, and Paul Faler of Eddyville; her daughter, Mary Robeson and her husband, Don, of Quincy, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; her son, Ernest; one grandson, Michael; three brothers; Floyd, John, and Ernest; and two sisters, Pauline Andreas, and Margaret Lacellas.

Funeral services for William Fangmeier, civil war veteran who died yesterday morning will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the home, 1077 Lucas Street. Rev. P. Geissler of the Walnut Street Baptist church will officiate.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Perry Chapel in New Hampton for Henry Fankhauser, 84, who passed away Saturday, June 8th. Reverend W. D. Spiker, pastor of the Congregational Church officiated.

Pallbearers were Raymond Boettcher of New Hampton, Donald Zipse and Leroy Fankhauser of Waterloo, and Wilbur and Henry Fankhauser of Tripoli.

Henry Fankhauser, one of six sons of Mr. and Mrs. Warner Fankhauser was born in Clarington, Ohio, October 15, 1850. From Ohio he went to Twin Grove, Wisconsin where he was united in marriage to Catherine Deal, July 29, 1882. After a few years they came to Chicasaw County, Iowa, where Mr. Fankhuaser was engaged in farming until increasing years forced his retirement from active labor.

Mr. and Mrs. Fankhauser were the parents of five children, four of whom still survive. Albert Fankhauser of Muskegan Heights, Michigan; Ed Fankhauser of Fredricksburg; one daughter, Laura, who died at the early age of twelve years; Ray Fankhauser of Waterloo; Oscar Fankhauser of Tripoli.

Mr. and Mrs. Fankhauser also made a home for a niece, now Mrs. Cora Peters of New Hampton, who lost her parents early in life.  He also leaves one brother, Sam and one sister, Mrs. Emma Thomas both of Clarington, Ohio. Mrs. Fankhauser passed away November 8th, 1932.

Relatives from a distance here for the funeral were Mrs. Thurman Fankhauser and son of Bennett, Iowa; Dave Palmer of Tipton, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Fankhauser of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Died in Idaho Falls, Idaho, May 24, 1892, Catherine, wife of Edward Fanning, aged 32 years and 3 months. .....six little children, the oldest not more than nine years, the two youngest, twins, not yet a half day old..... A short funeral service was held at one o'clock, from the house, on Wednesday afternoon, and the remains taken to the train, where they were shipped to Letts, Iowa, where all of their relatives reside..... The mother of deceased, four brothers and three sisters survive. The sisters are Mrs. Hugh Zybarth of Nichols, and Mrs. Matt Hogan and Miss Bridget Cody at the old home in '76 township and of the brothers, John resides at home, Ed at Iowa Falls, and Thomas and Michael at Fairhaven, Mont.

WEST LIBERTY--Charles Fenstermaker, a former resident of West Liberty, died Wednesday at McAllen, Texas, according to word received by relatives here.

Born near West Liberty, August 2, 1879, a son of Benjamin and Sarah Fenstermaker, he attended local schools.  Until retiring, he was a meat salesman.  Mr. Fenstermaker was married to the former Estelle Collier.  Their home earlier was in Red Wing, Minn.

Surviving are his widow, two daughters, three brothers including Raymond and Ephriam, both of West Liberty, and one granddaughter.

Graveside rites are to be held at Oakridge cemetery, West Liberty, at 3 p.m. Monday.  Friends may call at the Snider funeral home Monday.

MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Cleon M. Ferguson, of Muscatine, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial will be in Wildason Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ferguson died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at Muscatine Care Center. He was a missionary for many years in Muscatine and Swaziland, Africa. He also started churches in Walcott, Stockton and the Wilton Bible Fellowship in Wilton. He also taught Sunday school for many years at the Ripley Trailer Court.

Mr. Ferguson was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Marshalltown. He married Louise Brown in 1958 in Stockton. She died in 1995. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Russell M. Ferns, 58, Fruitland, died early Tuesday at University Hospitals, Iowa City.
Services are Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Island Methodist Church with the Rev. Jay Turner officiating.
Pallbearers are Neal Nilles, Gary Ferns, Roy Thomas, Dick Danner, Ronald Ferns and Mark Rissel.
Burial will be in the Island Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion and the VFW.Visitation is today from 2-8 p.m.  at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home.

Mr. Ferns was born April 17, 1927 in What Cheer, a son of Andrew and Edith Becktel Ferns. He had lived here since 1960. On Oct. 17, 1971 he married Anna Hayes in Illinois.  He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and a member of the Eagles and the Moose. Until retirement he was a machinist at International Harvester.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Andy Ferns, Muscatine; two stepsons; Ronald Hayes and Kirk Hayes, both of Central City; four daughters, Begate Keith and Eva Buster, both of Muscatine, Debra Ellis, Ainsworth, and Linda Ferns, also of Muscatine; two brothers, Dale Ferns, Oskaloosa; and Louie Ferns, What Cheer; one half-brother, Claud Ferns, What Cheer; and 17 grandchildren.

OHIO (IL)--Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Immaculate Conception church for Casper Fetzer, 19, who died Thursday at Highland sanitarium in Ottawa.  He was a tuberculosis patient there for two years.

He was born Jan 3, 1932, in Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fetzer.
Surviving are his parents; a sister, Mrs. James Fuller, Muscatine, Ia., and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Walters, Ohio.

OHIO--George Fetzer, 68, a farmer in the Ohio area for many years, died Monday at the TB sanitorium in Pontiac, where he had been a patient for the past 13 month.  A heart condition was the immediate cause of his death.

His body will be brought to Ohio Tuesday afternoon.  Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and at 8 p.m. at the Antone Walter home, where the body will lie.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception church, the Rev. T.C. Wujeck officiating.
Mr. Fetzer was born July 14, 1889, the son of William and Mary Miller Fetzer.  In 1918, he was married to Abbie Walter, who survives.

Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Fuller, of Muscatine, Iowa; two brothers Oscar, of Ohio, and Gilbert, of Walnut; two sisters, Miss Ida Fetzer of Ohio and Mrs. Martha Epperson, of Walnut; and two grandchildren.  Two children died in infancy and a son, Casper, died March 1, 1951.

  Conesville --- Funeral services for Mrs. Samuel Field, whose death occurred at her home in Kimberly, Minn, June 4, were held in the Methodist church at Conesville Tuesday with the Rev. C. F. Curtis, pastor, in charge. Pallbearers were Harry Abbott, Charles Buser, Clarence Nicholson, S. D. Cozad, Harry Chapman and Vere Walker.  In charge of flowers were Mrs. Harry Abbott, Mrs. Vere Walker and Mrs. S. D. Cozad. Burial was in the Conesville cemetery.

Carol Field (sic—Carroll) of Kimberly accompanied the body of his mother here. Others from a distance attending were Mrs. Mary Lord and daughter, Phinie, H. Lord and son, Mr. and Mrs. Buel Lord, Mrs. Anna Chamberlin, of Muscatine; Mrs. Elma McKee and Miss Dolly Cecil of Davenport, Thomas and Tena Dean of Nichols.

This morning at 725 at his home, No. 1078 Star Street, Bulterville, occurred the death of C.W. Fisher, an old and respected citizen of Muscatine, at the age of 66 years. He had been in failing health for the past several months, but it was not until about a week ago that he was compelled to take to his bed, where he remained until death relieved his sufferings.

Deceased was born in Lancaster, Penn. March 7, 1829, and came to this city in 1854, which had been his home since that date. During his residence here he followed his trade of tinner until his health began to fail and he was obliged to retire.

He is survived by his sorrowing widow and twelve children Mrs (Sarah) John Hain, of Arion, Iowa, Mrs (Leah) James Denham, residing near Letts, Mrs Mary Lawrence, Mrs. (Adaline) Chockly Smith, Mrs. (Fannie) Dennis Stapleton, Mrs. (Emma) Link Harker, of this city; C.B. , John A. Edwin M.S, George, Charles, and Harry, also living here.

The announcement of Mr. Fisher's death will be received with regret by a large number of personal friends, by whom be was highly esteemed.  The funeral services will be announced later.

Edwin M.S. Fisher, 104, 800 West Fulliam Ave. , died at 6 p.m Wednesday at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery at 10 am Saturday. Visitation will be held after 7 this evening.

Mr. Fisher said on his 100th birthday, Dec. 22 1969. he attributed his long like to two verses in the book of Proverbs in the Bible. The verses, Proverbs 1 and 2 read, " My son, forget not my law: but let thine heart keep my commandments For length of days, and long like, and peace shall they add to thee."

Edwin Fisher was born Dec. 22, 1869 in Muscatine, the son of Cornelius and Mary Bower Fisher.  He was a life resident of the city.
He married Helena Marticke in October of 1899 in Muscatine.

He was a member of the Hawkeye Lodge, Iowa Lodge No. 2, A.F. and A.M. Before his retirement he worked as a button cutter,
sold insurance, was a carpenter and operated a grocery store.

Surviving are two daughter, Violet L Fisher with whom he made his home; and Mrs. Helen Lysle Millett, Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, and 12 brothers and sisters

Gertrude Coffin was born Feb. 21, 1911, in Conesville. She married Orval Fisher in 1934 in Muscatine.

Atty. Harry L Fisher, 76 of Walnut Ridge, Ark. died at 1140 am Thursday in St.Lukes Hospital. He had been visiting his daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Finch of 2604 Wilkes Ave. Davenport.

Born March 17, 1879 in Muscatine, he attended schools there. He married GRACE HEBARD in 1898 in Muscatine. She died in 1915. Later he married LULA HAHN who also preceded him in death . In 1943 he married CORA FORD in Eureka Springs, Ark. He was of Baptist faith and practiced law in bout Muscatine and Arkansas.

Surviving are the widow two daughters, Mrs. Finch and Mrs. ORREN KISER , or Wilton; four grandchildren, and three brothers EDWIN, CHARLES, GEORGE all of Muscatine. The body was taken to the Runge Mortuary.

Miss Hattie Fisher, the 14-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Fisher, residing on Climer street, near the cemetery, died at her home this morning with the prevailing disease.

The time of her death is not exactly known, as she was able to be up yesterday, but it is supposed a relapse was the cause of death.  The funeral is appointed for Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence in West Muscatine.

Muscatine's first death from scarlet fever in years, occurred at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday night, when John Amos Fisher, proprietor of a second-hand store on Cedar Street, passed away following a brief illness at his home, 216 Bridgeman street.

Mr. Fisher was ill for about ten days,  but his condition became critical only three days ago.  By reason of the nature of Mr. Fisher's death, immediate burial had to be made and private funeral services were held at 4 o'clock this afternoon.  The Rev. D.. J. Ferguson of the United Brethren church had charge of the services the grave.  Interment was made at Greenwood cemetery.

The deceased was born on Oct.11, 1867, in Muscatine, and resided here his entire life.  He was married to Miss Adele  L. McClaren, Sept. 28, 1898.

To survive him, he leaves his widow, three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hain, Mrs. Fannie Stapleton  and Mrs. C.C Smith , and four brothers, Edwin, Charles, George and Harry Fisher,  all of Muscatine.
The deceased was affiliated with the Knights of the Maccabees.

One of the city's early settlers and a long time resident of Butlerville, Mrs. C.W. Fisher, departed this life yesterday morning alt her home No. 107 East Seventh Street, death terminating an illness of about three weeks' duration. Her late husband was known as one of the most skilled tinners the city ever had, he passing into rest eternal on the 8th of October, 1895.

Mrs. Fisher first saw the light of day in Hummelstown, Dauphin County, Pa., and reached the age of 66 years, 8 months and 25 days. Coming from the Keystone stated to Iowa in 1854, she had resided here ever since and was known as a good woman and faithful communicant of the First M.E. church. She was united in marriage to the late Cornelious Walburn Fisher on July 15th, 1851 and of the issue of their union six sons and as many daughters survive, they being Mrs. Sarah (John) HAIN, Mrs. Lillie(James) DENHAM, Mrs. Mary (Carl) LORENZ, Mrs. Emma (Alfred) HARKER, Mrs. Fannie (Dennis) STAPLETON , Mrs. Adaline (Chockly) SMITH, Cornelious, John, Charles George, and Harry.

The funeral is to occur from the residence Saturday morning at 10 o'clock.

Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Fisher, 89, were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Fairbanks-Lamb Chapel.  Rev. Clifford Lott officiated. Merrill Womach was the organist.  Pallbearers were David Bauerbach Jr., William Molis, William Molis Jr., Steven Molis, Donald Pace and Dana Pace.   Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Fisher died June 3 at Muscatine General Hospital.

In addition to other survivors listed earlier, seven great-grandchildren survive.

Mrs. Ellen Fitzsimmons, 101, of 224 Iowa avenue. Muscatine's oldest resident died at 1115 a.m. Saturday at Bellevue hospital.

Mrs. Fitzsimmons, who was the daughter of Solomon and Susanna Stroh Wagner, was born June 2, 1850, at Letts. She had lived in Muscatine about 45 years.

She was married to Thomas Coder Aug. 15, 1870, and his death occurred Oct. 10, 1873. She was married to Thomas Fitzsimmons Nov. 15, 1874. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lula Webster and Mrs. Cora DeCamp both of Muscatine; a stepdaughter Mrs. Eva Phelps, West Branch; three grandchildren, Fern Webster and Mrs. Blanche Chamberlin, both of Muscatine and Mrs. E. E. Smith, Chula Vista, Calif. nine step grandchildren. Luther Franzene, Minneapolis. Mrs. Perry Oakes, Columbus Junction, Vernon Phelps, Sigourney, Mrs. Harold Stocker, St. Louis, Mrs. Alfred Anderson, West Branch, Mrs. Mabel Rummells, West Branch, Mrs. Mabel Benson, Davenport, and Mrs. Will Freese, Muscatine; and a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 230 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of the Fairbanks Home for Funerals. Dr. Claude W. Cooper, pastor of the First Methodist church will be in charge.  Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery.

Charles Edward Fix, 53 (sic), prominent farmer residing near Andalusia, Ill., died at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday at his home after an illness of three weeks with heart trouble.

He was born on July 30, 1881, in Muscatine County, and had resided here for 15 years.  He also made his home in Scott county for a time.  He married Ivah Pahl on Oct. 7, 1908, at Davenport.

Surviving are the widow, five children, Harold, Donald, Floyd and Mae Fix, all of Andalusia;  Mrs. Allen Baker, Taylor Ridge, Ill., seven brothers and sisters, Will Fix, Fairport; Ray Fix, New Era; Mrs. Nellie Wunderlich, New Era; Mrs. Mary Burnwood, Rock Island; Harvey Fix, Muscatine, Ralph of Moline and Mrs. Lydia Ward, Davenport.

The body is at the residence where it will remain until funeral services which will be conducted at the Andalusia church at 11 a.m. Saturday and at 2:30 at the Blue Grass church.  The Rev. W. H. Taylor, pastor of the Silvis, Ill., church, will be in charge of the rites.  Burial will be in the Blue Grass cemetery.  The Hoffman Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.

Harvey S. Fix died Saturday of a heart ailment.  Services were held in the Chapel of the Fairbanks Home for Funerals.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Fix was on a hunting trip when stricken on Saturday. He was riding in a car driven by Keith Weiersheuser,  when the attack occurred east of Tipton. Mr. Fix was taken to a nearby farm house so a doctor could be summoned, but death occurred before the arrival of the doctor.

Mr. Fix, whose house was at 1108 Lincoln boulevard, was the son of Charles and Permelia Reeves Fix and was born February 19, 1891, at Pine Mills in Muscatine County. He married Eva L. Groves, January 28, 1915, at Muscatine.

He was a life time resident of  Muscatine County.
Mr. Fix was a member of the Grace Lutheran church and was affiliated with the Masonic Order. Until his retirement, he worked as a road equipment operator for the Iowa Highway Commission.

Surviving are his wife and brother, Will Fix, Muscatine. He was preceded in death by two sons in infancy, three  sisters and four brothers.

BLUE GRASS-- Services for Mrs. Ivah Roannie Fix, 73, Blue Grass, will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Runge Chapel, Davenport. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

Mrs. Fix died Tuesday in her home. She had been ill six months.

The former Ivah Pahl was born in Blue Grass Feb. 20, 1889, and married Charles E. Fix Oct. 7, 1908, in Davenport. He died in 1935.

The couple farmed near Andalusia several years, moving to the Blue Grass area where they farmed until retirement.
Mrs. Fix was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are daughters Mrs. Theodore (Mae) Kemper, Muscatine, and Mrs. Erma Baker, Edgington, IL; sons Harold, Almond, Wisc.; Floyd, at home, and Donald, Muscatine; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Pearl Blank, Mrs. Raymond Arp and Mrs. Riley Dietz, all of Walcott, and Mrs. Carl Bornholdt, Buffalo.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a daughter, three sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Mildred Grimm Fix, 54, rural route 3, Muscatine, died at 11:30 p. m. Friday in Bellevue hospital, following a four days illness. She was the wife of Will Fix.

Born March 17, 1891, in Muscatine County, she was the daughter of Daniel Grimm, Sr. and Philippine Metx* Grimm, and resided in Muscatine county her entire life. Her marriage to Will Fix took place in Muscatine, Jan. 14, 1914. Mrs. Fix was a member of the Ziegler Memorial Lutheran church of New Era and of the Ladie's Aid of that church.

Surviving are her husband, two sons, Leo and Rolland, at home; five brothers, George, Daniel A., Jacob H., Andrew and Louis, all of this county; and two sisters, Mrs George Brei, route 3, Muscatine, and Mrs. Fred Karg of Muscatine. Her parentss, one brother and one sister preceeded her in death.

The body is at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals, where final rites will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. August Aden of Ziegler Memorial church of New Era in charge. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Ralph Harold Fix, age 48, rural route 2, Davenport, died suddenly Sunday while on his way to a doctor's office in Durant.

He was born in Muscatine county on October 12, 1897. He married Alice Gretchen Graff on February 12, 1927 at Moline, IL., and the couple lived west of Davenport for the past 11 years.

Mr. Fix was a member of Ziegler Memorial Lutheran church at New Era and had been employed at French and Hecht in Davenport since  1935.

Surviving are his wife and one son, Robert Lewis Fix, at home; three brothers, William, Harvey and
Raymond Fix, all of Muscatine; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Wunderlich, Muscatine. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

The funeral home in charge was Runge Funeral Home in Davenport.  Interment will be in  the Blue Grass cemetery.

Raymond A. Fix, 120 West Fulliam avenue, died Saturday at a Kansas City hospital of injuries suffered in an automobile accident late Tuesday afternoon on U.S. highway 71 near Lee's Summit, MO.

Funeral rites were held Saturday for Mrs. Fix who was also fatally injured in the accident. The body of Mr. Fix was brought to the Fairbanks Home for Funerals, where rites were held Tuesday with the Rev. M. D. Kilver, pastor of the Grace Lutheran church in charge. Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery.

Mr. Fix was born August 5, 1894, in Montpelier township, the son of Charles and Permelia Reeves Fix. He had been a life time resident of this community. His wife was the former Thelma Ganther. A retired farmer, he was in service during World War I and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include one son, Clifford, of Rock Island; two brothers Will and Harvey Fix, of Muscatine; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral rites for Mrs. Thelma Fix, who resided at 120 W. Fulliam avenue, were held today at the Fairbanks Chapel. The Rev. M. D. Kilver, pastor of the Grace Lutheran church was in charge. Mary  June Hucke was soloist and Mrs. Eva Kramer, organist. Pallbearers were Floyd Fix, Donald Fix, Leo Fix,  Ronald Fix, Harlan Wunderlich and Floyd Bierman.

Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery.

Services for Barbara L. "Bobbie" Flake, 60, of 16 Ashley Ave., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine.  Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Flake died Saturday, Nov. 02, 2002, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine.
Barbara Turpin was born Sept. 15, 1942, in Fireball, Calif. She married Marvin Flake in 1973 in Muscatine.

A memorial fund has been established.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Sr.; daughters, Mary Irick, Buffalo, and Bonnie Albrecht, of  Tennessee; sons Marvin Jr., Muscatine, and Johnny Casteel, Milwaukee;  five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Sutton,  Lindsey, Calif.; and brother, Donald Turpin, Watts, Okla.

H. Hershel Flater, 89, of Redlands, California, formerly of Wilton, died Monday, February 1, 1999, at his home in Redlands.

Services will be held Thursday, February 11, 1999, 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Wilton. Rev. Bruce Giese officiating and musical selections will be provided by organist Sharon Bowers and vocalist Henry Bentley. Casket bearers will be Tom Austin, James Voss, Steve Oien, Tom Oien, Melvin Ngwayah and Calvin Flater. Interment will be in Oakdale, Cemetery, Wilton. Memorials may be directed to the Shriner Children’s Hospital and to the First Presbyterian Church in Wilton.

Mr. Flater was born December 15, 1909, the son of Granville and Emma Beggs Flater in Muscatine County. He married F. Margaret Hampton on December 15, 1930, in Iowa. He farmed in Cedar County until 1952, when he purchased the Wilton Telephone Company, which he operated until retirement. He was mayor of Wilton from 1970-74, was an assistant Secretary of the Iowa Senate in 1967, and a journal clerk for the Iowa Legislature in 1965.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wilton, member and Past Master of Wilton Masonic Lodge #167 AF&AM for over 50 years, member and past Patron of Purity Chapter of Order of Eastern Star, member of the Wilton Chamber of Commerce, National Independent Telephone Association, and was a founding member of the Iowa Independent Telephone Association.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Flater of Redlands, California; a daughter, Diana (husband, Ronald) Gradert of Wilton; a son, Dwight (wife, Maxine) Flater of Redlands, California; a brother, Eldon Flater of Santa Rosa, California; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Miss Katie Lee Flater, second daughter of J. W. Flater, of Atalissa, Iowa, was born April 18, 1873, near West Liberty, Iowa,
and departed this life at the Homeopathic hospital at Iowa City, Ia., Feb. 8, 1910, at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening where she has been
since the middle of October. Her father and sister, Florence, were at her bedside when she passed away. Her death was caused by a
complication of diseases.

She was preceded in death by her mother and brother Frank. Those who are left to mourn her death are her father, two sisters, Mollie at home and Mrs. Florence Griggs, and two brothers, Granville and Guy, besides a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 10, at 1 o'clock from the Cedar Valley M. E. church conducted by the pastor.
The song services were rendered by Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Monroe, Mrs. Edgar Hildebrand and Miss Harriet Arnold of Cedar Valley and
Miss Jennie Hindricks and John Stephens, of Nichols. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, mute expressions of high regard in which she was held. The pall bearers were Fred Swain, Ed Hendriks, Philip Spilger, Harry Clark, Archie Staley and Glenn Thompson, former pupils of her home school where she taught for six years.

She was reared to young womanhood in this vicinity and was loved by all who knew her. She was a devout member of the M. E. church since her girlhood. Interment was made at Oakdale cemetery at West Liberty.

Donald Schaffer Folck, 51, died Saturday morning in Wisconsin of a heart attack.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church, Omro, Wisc. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Plaskley Funeral home, Omro, Wis.

Donald Folck was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Muscatine, the son of George and Iola Griener. He married Louse Zimmerman in Illinois.

Darlene Forbes, age three, died of pneumonia at Hershey hospital at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. The child had been ill for three weeks.
Her parents are Clara Wright Forbes of Ottumwa, and Orville Forbes, who resides in Michigan.
For the past two years Darlene had lived with her aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs. Ben Credmore(Predmore), 1402 Kansas street.
The body is at the Meyers Funeral home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending the arrival of the child's parents.

Mrs. Henrietta Forbes, 69, 1400 Kansas street, died at Hershey hospital at 4:30 p. m. Wednesday after a several weeks illness with a complication of ailments.

Mrs. Forbes was born in Louisa county, Sept. 5, 1869 and had resided here for the past 27 years. She was a member of the Methodist Epicsopal church.

Surviving are the following children, Mrs. Emma Kruse, of West Liberty, Mrs. Ora Predmore, Mrs. Lydia Snider, and Mrs. Nina Sander all of Muscatine; Mrs. Zelma Tyner, of Rock Island, Mrs. Bessie Arnold of Oakdale, Calif., Mrs. Berda Herlein, of Des Moines, Mrs. Addie Brown of Muscatine, William and Frank Forbes of Muscatine and Orville Forbes of Whittaker, Mich. A brother, William Kincaid, of Rantoil, Kas, a sister, Mrs. Elsie Tripp, of Denver, Colo., 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Her husband and three children preceded her in death.

The body is at the Hoffman Funeral home but will be taken to the residence, 1400 Kansas street, at 9 a. m. Friday. It will be returned to the Hoffman Funeral church where rites will be held at 1 p. m. Saturday. The Rev. A. L. Brandstetter, of the United Brethren church will be in charge. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

LONE TREE - Ida Forbes, 87, Lone Tree, died Saturday at the Lone Tree Care Center.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree. Rev. Albert Best will officiate. Burial will be in the Swank Cemetery. Visitation started at 1 p.m. today at Sorden's Chapel, Lone Tree.

Ida Forbes was born March 9, 1892, in Conesville, the daughter of Eugene and Nancy Jean Harper Heath.
Her marriage to Vernie Forbes took place Oct. 15, 1910, in Muscatine.

Survivors include five sons, Lester of Iowa City, Wayne of Lone Tree, Jimmie of Conesville, Lyle of Wapello, and Warren of West Liberty; three daughters, Mrs. Everett (Florence) Rath of Riverside, Mrs. George (Helen) Brookhart of Iowa City and Mrs. Don (Beulah) Boyde of Lone Tree; 36 grandchildren; 67 great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, William Heath of Chicago; one half-brother, Harold Nelson of Conesville; and one sister, Sylvia Hughes of Huffman Estates, Illinois.

FORBES, ORVAL C., 72, of 1420 13th St. N, died Sunday (March 31, 1985) at Bayfront Medical Center. Born in Muscatine, Iowa, he came here in 1957 from Ypsilanti, Mich. and was a former owner of Allstate Drywall, St. Petersburg for 22 years. He was a Baptist, a 32nd Degree Mason, Valley of  Tampa, and life member of Phoenix Lodge 13, Ypsilanti. Survivors include a son Orval Jr., Ypsilanti; a
daughter Betty Jean Wise, Tarpon Springs; two sisters, Verda Herlien*, Des Moines, Iowa, and Nina Sander, Muscatine, and five grandchildren. National Cremation Society.

W.C. Forbes, a well known resident of South Muscatine, passed away at his home on Kansas street this morning, following a brief illness of a complication of diseases.

Mr. Forbes was born in Louisa county September 30, 1850, and spent his early life on a farm in Iowa. Later, when a young man, he moved to Kansas, and while living there was united in marriage with Miss Henreitta Kincaid. Later the couple moved back to Iowa, and since that time have resided in or near Muscatine.

Mr. Forbes is survived by his wife, three sons and eight daughters, Mrs. J.G. Baker of Columbus Junction, and Mrs. George Owens, Mrs. Horace Brown, Mrs. Paul Snyder, Frank, William, Verda, Emma, Nina, Zelma and Orval Forbes, all at home. He also leaves to mourn his death two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Morse and Mrs. Hannah Rife and one brother, Collin Forbes, all of Lone Tree, Iowa.

Funeral services over the remains will be held from the Swank church, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with interment in the Swank cemetery.

Wayne Leroy Forbes, 78, of Lone Tree, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at his residence from a prolonged pulmonary illness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 11, at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home in Lone Tree. Reverend Richard Johnson officiated.

Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree Senior Dining or Lone Tree First Responders.

Wayne Leroy Forbes was born May 2, 1925, in Lone Tree, the son of Vernie and Ida M. (Nelson) Forbes. He married Gladys M. Idle on May 11, 1948, in Iowa City.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. For many years Wayne was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a lifetime farmer and he spent many years helping out with 4-H and FFA projects. When he could, he went deer hunting. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the Hawkeyes, plus the grandchildren's games. Wayne also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Gladys Forbes; three sons, Dennis W. Forbes and his wife, Julie, of Lone Tree, Daryl D. Forbes and his wife, Doreen, of Biggsville, Illinois, and Donald R. Forbes and his wife, Johnna, of Lone Tree; two brothers, Lyle Forbes of Lone Tree and Warren H. Forbes of West Liberty; one sister, Florence Rath of Riverside; and four grandchildren, Chad and Amy Forbes of Illinois, Hailey Forbes and Jordan Burk of Lone Tree.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Brookhart and Beulah Boyd; and three brothers, Daris, Lester and James Forbes.

Willam Aaron Forbes, 64, 1407 Nebraska Street, died at 6:20 p.m. Friday at Muscatine General hospital after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the George M. Wittich funeral home. The Rev. T. Ray Crews will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

The son of William and Henrietta Kincaid Forbes, he was born in Muscatine county Dec. 29, 1899, and resided here all his life. He was married in 1933 to Jessie Syphrit. They were divorced. He was of the Methodist faith and a barber by trade.

Surviving are a son, LeRoy J. Forbes, Moline Ill., three daughters, Mrs. Jack Ray, Mrs. Al Kilburn and Mrs. Wayne Kilburn, Muscatine; two brothers, Orville Forbes, Largo, Fla., and Frank Forbes, Oakdale Calif., seven sisters, Mrs. Carl Kruse, Mrs. Donald Sanders, Mrs. Fred Day, Mrs. Horace Brown and Mrs. Alva Howard, Muscatine, Mrs. Robert Tyner, Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Harry Herlein, Des Moines; and seven grandchildren.  One son, one brother and three sisters are deceased.

Mr. Ford died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, in Cedar County. He retired in 1989 from H.J. Heinz Co.

He was born June 21, 1927, in Sugar Creek Township, Cedar County. He married Helen Call in 1945 in Muscatine. A memorial fund has been established.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Laveda Carlson, and a son, Daniel E., both of Muscatine; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, John E, Moscow, and David W., Tipton.

Leona Myrtle Ford, 90, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 22, 1995, at Community Care of Muscatine, where she resided since August. She was formerly of rural Wilton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Brother Craig Decorte will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home where a memorial has been established.
Mrs. Ford was born Aug. 11, 1904, in Muscatine, a daughter of Riley and Sophia Wishart Ford. She was a life resident of the area.
Her marriage to Vernon Ford took place in 1922 in Muscatine.
She was member of Jehovah's Witnesses in Tipton.
She enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Ford of Harriman, Tenn., a daughter, Mrs. Carroll (Doris) Schroeder of Wilton; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Viola Seaman of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1957, and three sisters.

George W. Foster was born in Cecil county, Maryland, Oct. 25th, 1899 (sic)  and died in Norfolk, Neb., Nov. 5, 1899.  His parents moved to eastern Ohio in his infancy, and removed from there to Iowa in 1850 and settled near Muscatine. Here he grew to manhood, and after teaching school for some time, he went to farming on the old homestead.

In 1872 he married Marilla Harbaugh. To them were born three children, two of whom died in infancy, and the third, Iva remains to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father.

They came to Norfolk in 1892, and since then this place has been their home.  He was regarded with high esteem by all, and especially by those who knew him best.

From earliest manhood he had poor health, yet he was so uncomplaining that few knew of the suffering he so patiently bore. His last illness was of brief duration, being confined to his bed but a week.

He leaves one brother to share with the bereaved widow and daughter their great loss.
The funeral services were held from the home yesterday, and were conducted by Rev. G. H. Mian. The pall-bearers were; G. M. Thompson, M.R. Morris, J. Ransom. W.E. Spencer, E.B. Kenyon and W.J. Gow.

Funeral services for Grant L. Foster, 69, 408 W. Second St., Muscatine, were held at 10 a.m. today at Fairbanks Chapel, Rev. E. B. Meyer officiated. Mrs. Eva Kramer was organist.

Pallbearers were Richard Varnum, Jeffery Varnum, Everet Graham, Fred Bierman, Frank Hubbard and Fred Weimann. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery.

Mr. Foster died Saturday at Muscatine General Hospital after an extended illness.
Born July 15, 1902 at Muscatine, he was a son of Fred and Edith Lawson Foster.

Grant Foster married Marie Van Horn July 5, 1947 at Muscatine. She survives as does one sister, Mrs. Frank McGrath of Marshfield, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Marie A. Foster, 93, of 117 W. Third St., died today, Tuesday, May 30, 1995, at Muscatine General Hospital.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home. The Rev. E. B. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Foster was born July 16, 1901, in Albert, Kan., a daughter of John and Katherine Oetken VanHorn.
She first married Chester Oppelt on Jan 1, 1921, in Muscatine. She later married Grant Foster on July 5, 1947, in Muscatine.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter Lorraine Temple of Muskegon Mich.; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; one brother Chester VanHorn of Muscatine; a niece, June Welsch of Muscatine; and a nephew, Ralph Brewer of New Boston Ill.  She was preceded in death by both husbands, her son, Dick, three brothers, one sister and a grandson.

I (JBW) was very close to Aunt Marie I loved her very much and I miss her very much. She was so kind and never said a bad word about anyone.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Ethel M. Fowlie, 88, of Muscatine died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Riverbend Nursing & Rehab Center.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Swanson will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Moore, Scott Miller, Robert Babbitt Sr. and Roger Babbitt Jr.  Visitation is 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fowlie was born July 14, 1913, in Muscatine, the daughter of Daniel and Martha Johnson Hayes.  She married Francis R. Fowlie in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1968.

She was a nurse's aide at the former Muscatine General Hospital for 23 years.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Ray and Dan Fowlie, both of Muscatine; four daughters, Iris Moore and husband Charles of Hendersonville, Tenn., June Adam and husband Manole of Letts, Gloria Reed and Audrey Babbitt and husband Robert, all of Muscatine; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Hayes and wife Doris of Carthage, Mo.; and a sister, Deloris Tompkins of Fruitland.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and a grandson.

Francis Fowlie, 60, 1512 Grant St., died suddenly shortly after 7 a.m. today at Muscatine General  hospital.

Mr. Fowlie had been a resident of Muscatine for 23 years. He had been employed the last three years as a bus driver for Midwest Transit Co.  He was born Nov. 19, 1908 at Utica, ILL.

Mr. Fowlie was married Sept. 19, 1946, at Iowa City, to Ethel Hayes. He was a Veteran of World War II, a member of Lincoln Blvd. Baptist church, and the Christian Business Men's Association.

Surviving are the widow, two sons, four daughters, and a step-son.
Services are pending at the Riley funeral home.

Nettie H. Fox, 98, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, December 15, 1998, at the Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.
Services were held December 18, with the Revs. Suz McIver and Robert Ahlstrom officiating. Burial in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Casket bearers were Don Ward, Steve Ward, Gary Ward, Tom Ward, Darwin Ward, Shawn Ward, Virgil Oostendorp, Bob Oostendorp, and Ron Oostendorp. Honorary casket bearers were Shirley Lehman, Sharon Woods, Karen Stoermer, and Linda McCusker. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Homes.

Mrs. Fox was born September 21, 1900, in West Liberty, the daughter of William L. and Nancy M. Seaman Harned. She married Everett Fox on March 10, 1920, in Muscatine. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Friendly 20 Club.

Benjamin F. Frankenberg, 72, 3743 North Court, Zellwood, Fla., died Tuesday at Muscatine General Hospital.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St Julianas Catholic Church. Touhy Ave., Chicago, under the direction of the Skaja Funeral Home of Niles, Ill. Visitation will be today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mayhill Cemetery, Niles.
Mr. Frankenberg was born Oct. 12, 1912, at Danville, Ill. A former  resident of Niles, he had lived in Florida for five years. He married Genevieve Gromkowski, April 15, 1939, in Chicago. He was a veteran of World War II, the Lion's Club of Niles; the  V.F.W. and St. John's Brebeuf Catholic Church, Niles. He was employed by New York Life for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Robert M. Frankenberg, Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. Marty (Nancy)  Thorton, Muscatine; three brothers, Harry Frankenberg, California; Robert E. Frankenberg, Madison, Wis.; and William H. Frankenberg, Mokena, Ill.; two sisters, Alyce Heenan, Mount Vernon, Ill.; and Mary Fanslow, Burlington, Wisc.; and two grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by one brother.

Charles W Franklin, 84, retired farmer and carpenter died at 7pm Thursday at Hershey hospital.   His home address was 521 First Ave., Muscatine, Iowa.

The son of Silas J and Frances Earl Franklin, he was born April 26, 1867 in Muscatine County and lived here all his life. He married Ida Belle Everett on July 1, 1888. Mr Franklin was a member of  the Lincoln Blvd. Baptist church and had served as a deacon for several years.

Survivors include his wife: four sons, Elmer, Floyd, Harold and Alfred Franklin all of Muscatine: a daughter, Mrs Alberta Ross, Muscatine: a brother, Melvin Franklin of Anadarko, Oklahoma: a sister  Mrs Albert Shepard, Muscatine: 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Ollie, and a daughter, Mrs Myrtle Krider.

The body has been taken to the Fairbanks Home for funeral and services, to be held in the  Fairbanks Chapel at 2:30 pm Monday in charge of the Rev Freeman Schmitt, pastor of the Lincoln Blvd. Baptist church.

Burial will be in the Fairport Cemetery.

Ellen Franklin, 53, of Montpelier, died at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday at her home following an illness of eight weeks.  Death Was due to a complication of ailments.

Mrs. Franklin had been a resident of Montpelier for 28 years.  She was born July 9, 1883, in Muscatine, county.  Her husband, Jesse Franklin, preceded her in death in 1929.

Two children survive, Cyril Franklin of Moline, IL., and Mabel Richter of Montpelier, beside the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Minnie Leonhard, Sweetland Township, George and Henry Brei, Mrs. Jacob Stark and Mrs. Katherine Holtz, all of Muscatine.  Three grandchildren also survive.

 Funeral rites will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Montpelier.  The Rev Ernest. A. Lack, pastor of Ziegler Memorial Lutheran church of New Era, will officiate.  Burial will be in the Krell cemetery.

 The body is at the Hoffman Funeral home here, where it will remain until noon Saturday, when it will be returned to Montpelier.

Montpelier-- Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Franklin, 53, who died at her home, Wednesday after an illness of eight weeks, were conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Methodist Episcopal church at Montpelier.  The Rev. E.A. Lack, pastor of the Ziegler Memorial Lutheran church of New Era, conducted the services.  The pallbearers were Gus Schroeder, Roy Lobdell, William Kane, Jake Sanders, Richard Nugent and Antone Braun.  Flower attendants were the Misses Vera Schroeder, Ella Spring and Evelyn Nettleton.  Burial was at Krells cemetery, near Sweetland.

Ellen Brei, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Brei was born July She was born July 9, 1883, at Sweetland.  She was married to Jesse Franklin, who preceded her in death in 1929.  After her marriage she made her home at Montpelier.  Two children survive, a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Richter of Montpelier and a son, Cyril Franklin of Moline, ILL., Beside the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Minnie Leonhard, George and Henry Brei, Mrs. Jacob Stark and Mrs. Katherine Holtz, all of Muscatine.  Three grandchildren also survive.

Ellen was the sister of my great-grandfather George L. Brei.  Full name Ellen Elizabeth Brei, daughter of Ludwig (Louis) and Elizabeth Krell Brei.  Married 1st briefly (1905-1906) to Francis Leroy Reeves--the son Cyril Franklin listed in the obit was born Cyril J. Reeves and was adopted by Ellen's 2nd husband, Jessie Jerome Franklin. She married Jesse Franklin in 1907. In addition to the two children listed in the obit, she was also supposed to have had a son Raymond C. born 1910 but we have been unable to find any information regarding him.. Correction to the obit--her sister's correct last name was STARKE.

Memorial services for Jody Lynn Franks, 31, of 105 Easton Park, 10 a.m. Tuesday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial will be in There  will be no visitation. He died suddenly Friday, November 8, 2002 at his home.

He worked for Prime Movers, Muscatine.  He was born March 6, 1971, in Muscatine.
A memorial has been established.

   The funeral of Mrs. Charles Freyer, who died at her home, 409 Oak street, was conducted from the residence on Tuesday, the remains being laid at rest in the local Jewish cemetery.  she had been a resident of this city for over thirty years and was well known.  Death followed an extended illness.  Her advanced age and a complication of diseases resulted in death.

Mrs. Freyer is survived by her husband and four children, the latter being, Mrs. Ida Urdangen of Mason City; Miss Florence Freyer, adopted, at home; Samuel Freyer of Rock Island, Ill., and Abraham Freyer of this city.
She is believed to have been the first Russian to have some to this city.  She was sixty years old.

WILTON --- Leo Friedli, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1992, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wilton. Pallbearers will be Robert Dale, Bruce Gruemmer, Pat Friedli, Robert Hedden, Norman Fruend and Craig Axel. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Wilton.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Lacock Funeral Home in Wilton with a scripture service at 7:30. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

He farmed in Muscatine County, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, and the Davenport Elks.
He enjoyed traveling and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mildred Frye, one sister Mary A. Axel of Muscatine and nieces  and nephews.

WILTON, Iowa - Mildred M. Friedli, 83, formerly of Wilton, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine.

Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Wilton. The Rev. Brian Shepley will officiate. According to her wishes, the body will be cremated.

Bentley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Homes,  Muscatine.

Mrs. Friedli was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Letts, the daughter of Frank and Emma Westbrook Fry. She married Leo Friedli Sept. 11, 1945, in Iowa. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1992.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wilton, and the Altar and Rosary Society. She loved to play cards, garden and spend time with her family.

Survivors include a sister, Hazel Danko of Muscatine; a brother, Merle Fry of Witchita, Kan.; five sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, eight brothers and two sisters.

Hunter-Mrs. Minnie Pearl Friedline, 77, of Rt.1 died at 1:5 a.m. today in the Doctors Hospital. She had been ill six months.
Born March 5, 1895 in Rock Island, Ill. Mrs. Friedline moved to Carter County nine years ago from Muscatine Iowa. She was a member of the Methodist Church. In 1909 she marred Millard Beverlin and he died in 1960. She later married Jacob Friedline and he survives.

Also surviving are sons Kline, Willard and Virgil Beverlin, all of Poplar Blluffs, Emery Beverlin of Hunter, Gene Beverlin of El Monte, Calif., Frank Beverlin of Kelseyville, Calif., Paul Beverlin of Ferndale, Mich., and Millard Beverlin of Warren, Mich.; daughters, Mrs. Margaret Holen of Muscatine, Iowa, Mrs. Olive Fulkerson of Sylmar, Calif., and Mrs. Marie Ann Martin of Oxley; a step son, Louis Friedline; 47 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Friedline's funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hunter Methodist Church. the Rev. Milton Gearhart will officiate and burial will be in the Highland Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Pewitt-Sloan Funeral Home at Van Buen.

Nichols-- Funeral services for Albert Fry, 82, a former Nichols resident who died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Bellevue hospital, Muscatine, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the West Liberty Methodist church. The body is at the Snider Funeral home, West Liberty. Burial will be in the Nichols cemetery.

Mr. Fry, a resident of Muscatine for the past year, was born Aug. 31, 1873 at Letts, being a son of Cyrus and Margaret Brookhart Fry. His marriage to Margaret Schmidt took place Dec. 25, 1900 at Muscatine. She preceded him in death in October 1954.

Survivors include one brother, Thomas, Wapello and two sisters, Mrs. George Chapman, Atalissa and Mrs. Walter Viner, Muscatine. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Cyrus Fry, a resident of Muscatine for 12 years, died at 8 o'clock this morning at his home, 1114 Oak  street. A stroke of paralysis suffered January 29 and complications caused his death. He was 78 years old.

The deceased was born June 27, 1843 in Buckstown, Somerset county, Pa. He came west with his parents at the age of seven years and settled on a farm near Letts. There he grew to manhood. He married Miss Arminda Brookhart December 23, 1869. Four years later he moved to Page county, Iowa, where he resided twenty years. The family then moved to a farm near Cranston and lived there until twelve years ago, then coming to Muscatine. Eight children were born to this union, seven of whom survive. His wife preceded him in death June 11, 1921.

The survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Nellie Meeker and Mrs. Mae Riemcke of Muscatine, Mrs. Rachael Meeker of Cranston and Mrs. Pearl Chapman of Atalissa; three sons, Albert Fry of Nichols, Thomas Fry of Wapello, and Lewis A. Fry of Ainsworth. Five sisters, Mrs. John Coder of Cranston, Mrs. Peter Brookhart of Letts, Mrs. Hattie Epperly of St. Paul, Mrs. Sarah Morrison and Mrs. Nicholas Herrick of Muscatine; and a brother John Fry of Letts, also survive.

Brief funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning from the home with the Rev. C. L. Young officiating. The remains will then be taken to Cranston and services held at 10:30 o'clock from the Cranston church with the Rev. E. L. Schaffer assisting the Rev. Mr. Young. Burial will be in the Cranston cemetery.

The body of De Wayne H. Fry, 21, route 1, Wilton, was discovered at the bottom of an unloaded hopper car at the Grain Processing corporation plant where he worked late Saturday night.

His wife gave birth to their first a girl today.

Dr. V. W. Swayze, county medical examiner, said Fry apparently suffocated in the corn that had been run out through the bottom of the railway car into a conveyor, but that death could have been caused by a fall into the car.

Lloyd Staab, plant safety director, said Fry and a co-worker were assigned to unloading the grain. The other worker went to another part of the building and when he returned Fry was not seen. Returning  later to see if the hopper had emptied of grain, he saw Fry's hand near the bottom of the car. He looked  inside and saw Fry face down in the hopper.

Dr. Swayze ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. If Fry had fallen into the hopper when it was nearly emptied he could have been fatally injured, it was pointed out.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the George M. Wittich funeral home. The Rev. Emmett Barnes will officiate. Burial will be in the Letts Cemetery.

Mr. Fry was born here in January, 1945. He was the son of Roy and Dorothy Stanbro Fry.
He was married in Muscatine to Donna Hart on June 12, 1964. He attended Lincoln Boulevard Baptist church.

Survivors are his wife, and child, his parents and four brothers, Richard of Durant, Donald of Davenport and Lyle and Louis Fry of Muscatine.

Mrs. Fry gave birth to a daughter this morning at Muscatine General hospital, which caused the funeral to be postponed from Wednesday to Thursday. The infant has been named Joanna D.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Dorothy Evelyn Fry, 84, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at the Lutheran Homes.

Services will be at 130 p.m. Thursday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Wade Duroe of Hillcrest Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at the Letts Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Hillcrest Baptist Church following services.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church.

She was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Cedar County, the daughter of Clarence and Olive Dallegge Stanbro. She married Roy W. Fry on Aug. 26, 1933. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a
homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Louie Fry and his wife, Janet ,of Muscatine and Donald Fry and his wife, Lois, of Rochester, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Daufeldt of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons, Haully, Richard and Gene Fry; a brother, Louie F. Stanbro.

Earl Fry, 211 Dillaway St., 72, died Monday at his residence.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Fairbanks-Lamb Chapel. Rev. William Keller will officiated.  Visitation is to begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Cranston Cemetery.

Mr. Fry was born on June 18, 1905, in Allen, Neb., the son of Thomas and Luella Atherton Fry. He was a retired machinist from J&K Button.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donna Moorehead, Alexandria, La., and Mrs. Donald (Carla) Halgren, Roseville, Calif., five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Forrest Fry of Wapello; and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Mae Houltz of Wapello, Mrs. Glen (Esther) Killey of San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Norbert (Ruby) Cross of Middleton.

Mrs. Elaine Fry, 35, died Wednesday morning at Muscatine General hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Fry of Route 5, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home.

Burial was in Letts cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The former Elaine Clayton was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Wapello, the daughter of Forrest and Erma Wilson Clayton. She married Donald E. Fry June 10, 1957, in Muscatine.

She was a member of the church of the Nazarene and had been living near Muscatine for three weeks at the time of her death. Prior to moving to the Muscatine area, she had resided in Bettendorf since 1967.

Surviving are her husband; four sons, David, Stanley, Donald II, and Sheldon, all at home; two foster children, Randy Reeves of Bettendorf and Mrs. Cindy Edwards of Georgia; three brothers, Ralph Clayton of Letts, John Clayton of Muscatine and Forrest Clayton of Ohio; six sisters, Mrs. Doris Redmond, Mrs. Patsy Johnson, Mrs. David (Minnie) Behrens, and Miss Shirley Clayton all of Muscatine; and Mrs. Lola Evans and Mrs. Thomas (Nancy) Perkins, both of Newark, Ohio; and one foster granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Mrs. Emma L. Fry, 70, resident here for the past 19 years, died at 7:15 a.m. today at her home, 1026 Kansas street, following a brief illness. The body was removed to the George M. Wittich Funeral Home, where arrangements for last rites are being made.

The daughter of Daniel and Melinda Wagner Westbrook, she was born June 17, 1881 in Louisa county, where she resided until 19 years ago. Her marriage to Frank G. Fry took place Jan. 9, 1901, in Louisa county. She was a member of the United Brethren church at Letts and of Miriam Rebekah lodge in Muscatine.

Survivors include her husband; nine sons, F. Glen Fry of Burlington, Kenneth L. Fry of Letts, Henry Arthur Fry with the U. S. Army in Japan, J. Marvin Fry of Enid, Okla., M. Alton Fry of Wichita, Kan., and Roy W., Keith G., Robert G., and Scott W. Fry of Muscatine, and four daughters, Mrs. Ward Lee and Mrs. Robert Roland of Muscatine, Mrs. Leo Friedli of Wilton and Mrs. Steven Danko of Chicago.

Also surviving are three brothers, James Westbrook of Muscatine, Fred Westbrook of Grandview, and Harrison Westbrook of Letts; two sisters, Mrs. John Birt of Grandview and Mrs. R. W. Furnas of Muscatine, 26 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother.

GRANDVIEW - Frances Marie Fry, 85, of Grandview, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at her home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Community Bible Church. The Rev. Darryl Erickson will officiate. Pallbearers was grandsons John T. Carter, Allen W. Carter, Kenneth R. Carter, Leslie P. Carter, Douglas D. Fry, David A. Fry, Thomas R. Fry, Randy B. Fry, Larry D. Fry, Michael T. Angelo, Kenneth R. Fry, Kerry L. Fry, Michael D. Fry.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello where the family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made for the benefit of Hospice.

Mrs. Fry was born on April 19, 1913 in Grandview, the daughter of Roy and Hortense O'Dell McGill. She married Ralph Thomas Fry on Dec. 27, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Grandview Community Bible Church at Grandview and also a member of the Keep Pace Club in Louisa County. She enjoyed cooking and needlework and was known for baking pies. She also loved gardening and flowers.

Survivors include two daughters, Gwendolyn Carter of Davenport and Luella Chatterton of Grandview; two sons, Oral R. Fry of Brighton, Colo. and Kenneth L. Fry of Murrieta, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; a son, Thomas; a grandson, Eugene; a granddaughter, Kathryn; two sisters, Twila and Cleda; and five brothers, Oral, Lawrence, Kenneth, Daryl, and Russell.

F. Glen Fry, 81, a resident of Valley View Manor, died there Tuesday afternoon.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Ahlstrom will officiate. Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The son of Frank and Emma Westbrook Fry, he was born Oct. 3, 1902, in Louisa County. He was a member of the Letts Masonic Lodge. Mr. Fry retired from the Iowa. Ordinance Plant, Burlington.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Virgil Boyd of Tullahoma Tenn.; one grandchild; six brothers, Arthur of St. Petersburg, Fla., Marvin of Enid, Okla., Alton of Wichita, Kan., and Roy, Keith, and Scott all of Muscatine; and four sisters Mrs. Ward Lee, Mrs. Robert McElroy and Mrs. Steve Danko all of Muscatine and Mrs. Leo Friedlie of Wilton.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

Frank Grant Fry, 83, died at 11:17 a.m. Saturday at Muscatine General hospital. Mr. Fry died after an extended illness, during the last year of which he had been cared for at the Hershey convalescent home. He formerly resided at 1115 Kansas Street.

Mr. Fry was born June 17, 1879, in Decatur county, Iowa, the son of John and Margaret Rhodes Fry.  He formerly lived at Letts and had been a resident of Muscatine for the past 30 years. He was a farmer and a carpenter.
Mr. Fry was married Jan. 9, 1901 in Louisa county, to Emma L. Westbrook.

Surviving are nine sons; F. Glen Fry of Burlington, Kenneth L. Fry of Letts, Henry Arthur Fry of Minneapolis, Roy W. Fry of Muscatine, J. Marvin Fry of Enid Okla., Keith E. Fry, Robert G. Fry, and W. Scott Fry all of Muscatine, and M. Alton Fry, of Wichita, Kans.; four daughters, Mrs. Ward Lee of Muscatine, Mrs. Leo Friedli of Wilton, Mrs. Robert McElroy of Muscatine, Mrs. Steven Danko of Worth, Ill.; one brother, Everette Fry of California; one sister, Mrs. Edward L. McKibbin of Cedar Rapids, 31 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.

The body is now at the George M. Wittich funeral home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Letts cemetery.

Seven of his sons were in the service.

Henry Fry was born Jan. 5, 1814 in Somerset county, Penn., and died April 30, 1897, aged 83 years 3 months and 2 days.

On the 20th day of September, 1838, he was united in marriage with Mary Fitzgerald, who survives him. Their early
life was one of hardship and toil, beginning as they did without any of this world's goods. Fourteen children were born to Brother and Sister Fry, three sons and one daughter having preceded their father to the spirit world.

The ones who are living are; Josiah, Cyrus, Frank and John Fry, Mrs, John Coder, Mrs. Jos. Morrison, Mrs. Peter   Brookhart and Mrs. C. Herrick of Muscatine county, Iowa; Mrs. L. M. Epperly of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. W. C. Harvey of Marne, Cass county, Iowa. They had fifty two grandchildren, of whom forty-three are living, and twelve great-grandchildren, who are all living.

Brother Fry was converted and united with the M. E. church in the year 1854. He often spoke of the religious instruction he had when young and how Jesus was with him in camp-meetings and revivals. He, with his family, moved to Iowa in May, 1856, and had resided in Muscatine county ever since.

Brother Fry was one of the industrious and staunch citizens of this community. He came here when the country was new and by industry, economy and good management he made his way up. First he bought an eighty and kept adding to and improving till he owned one of Iowa's magnificent farms. As a neighbor he was accommodating and peaceable; he was a model husband, affectionate, gentle, forbearing, and a great lover of home. As a father he had so impressed himself upon his children that they rise up and call him blessed. While Bro. Fry was not a sectarian he was a loyal Methodist, loving above all others the church of his choice, and was an exemplary profession and a happy, steadfast Christian. His honorable life and Christian example had been a constant benediction to this community.

While his lips are closed in death and we shall not hear his familiar voice again, he continues to speak to us in   unmistakable tones, "follow me as I have followed Christ."

The funeral services were held at the M. E. church, May 2nd at 11 a.m. A very large concourse of people assembled to look for the last time upon the face of their friend and brother. Services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. D. C. Bevan. His text was Philippians 1:21 "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain." The remains were laid to rest in the Letts cemetery.

Howard M. Fry, 71, 7 Edward Drive, died suddenly Sunday morning of an apparent heart attack.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home. Pastor H. C. Hafermann will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Howard Fry was born Feb. 10, 1907, in Conesville, the son of Marcus and Opel Wells Fry. He was a life resident of this area.

He was first married to Minnie Frieden. She preceded him in death. On February 23, 1974 he married Clara Axel in Muscatine Fry was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks and Loyal Order of Moose. He was the owner of Fry & Son Welding Co.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wesley and Joe Fry, both of Muscatine; one step-son Douglas Axel of Muscatine; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, one brother, Wayne of Muscatine; and a sister, Josephine Van Dyke of Muscatine.

(Journal News Service) Letts ---- Mrs. Jane Fry, 97, resident of this community for almost 90 years, died at 5:20 p.m.   Wednesday, following a fall in which she suffered an injured hip about a week ago, Mrs. Fry was the oldest resident of Louisa County.

Born in Indiana, she came to Letts Iowa with her parents when she was eight years of age. Despite her advanced age, she had been active until the last few years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Letts.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Stella Furnas of near Letts, Mrs. Gertrude Runyan of Muscatine, and Mrs. Phenia Epperly of Roseburg Ore; one son R. C. Fry of near Cranston, and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The body is at the J. H. Collins funeral home, and will remain there until funeral services are conducted at 2 p.m. at the Letts Methodist church with the Rev. Benjamin Van Dyke officiating. Burial will be in the Letts cemetery.

Josiah Fry, a well known resident of Muscatine county, passed away on Saturday evening at his home, three miles   northwest of Letts, IA. His death was a tragic unexpectedness. He was in the yard surrounding his rural home, when he suddenly pitched forward and expired. His death was due to heart disease. He has been in poor health for some time, a complication of diseases weakening his constitution. He is survived by his wife, one son, Rolla, of near Letts, and three daughters, Mrs. J. Epperly, of Roseberg, Mrs. F. A. Runyon and Mrs. Elmer Furnas, of near Letts.

Mr. Fry was prominently known and the announcement of his sudden death was received as a district in the community in which he has resided for such a long time.

The funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church at Letts, and interment will be made in the cemetery there.

On Sunday morning, when the members of the family were assembled, mourning over the departure of a beloved  husband and father word was received that a sister of deceased, Mrs. Mary Harvey, had also died at her home in Marne, IA.

Kenneth Fry was born Dec. 1, 1906 in rural Louisa County, the son of Frank and Emma Westbrook Fry. He was married Aug. 1, 1941 to Louise Johnson in Kahoka, Mo.

He was a member of the Letts United Methodist Church. He was a 20-year retired employee of Thatcher Packaging and was a mechanic for Weber and Huston in Letts.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Charles William of Grandview; three daughters, Mrs. David (Berniece) Tharp of Grandview, Mrs. Barbara Meeker of Wapello and Mrs. Thomas (Brenda) McAvoy of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; seven brothers, Glen, Roy, Scott, James all of Muscatine; Arthur of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Marvin of Enid. Okla.; and Merle of Wichita, Kan.; and four sisters Mrs. Steve (Hazel) Danko of Chicago, Mrs. Leo (Mildred) Freidli of Wilton, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) McElroy and Mrs. Ward (Mable) Lee both of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a infant daughter.

Wapello -- Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. (CDT) Saturday at the Dudgeon-McCulley funeral home here for Mrs. Luella Atherton Fry, 81, who died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at Muscatine General Hospital.

The Wapello woman had been at the hospital three weeks. The Rev. Caleb Larson of Grandview will officiate at the services. Burial will be at Cranston cemetery. The family will meet friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. (CDT).

Mrs. Fry was born in Madison township, Ohio, the daughter of Robert and Anna Cordner Atherton, Sept. 6, 1880.
On Jan. 1, 1901, she married Thomas Ralph Fry at Muscatine. He preceded her in death on Mar. 31, 1957.

A Member of the Methodist church she was also a past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge.

Six sons and daughters survive. They are Forest Fry, of Muscatine, and Ralph Fry, Grandview; Anna Mae Houtz, Wapello; Esther Kelley, of San Antonio, Tex.; and Ruby Cross, Middletown Iowa.  She is also survived by two brothers, Marion Atherton of Des Moines and Albert Atherton, of Ft.  Lauderdale, Fla; 30 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Margaret Fry, Life Resident of Nichols, Succumbs

Nichols --- Mrs. Margaret Fry, 74, died at 5 p.m. Saturday at her home as a result of a sudden illness.

The daughter of Adam and Margaret Hartman Schmitt, she was born May 23, 1881, at Nichols and was a life-long resident of the community. She was married to Bert Fry Dec. 24, 1900 in Muscatine. She was a member of the Methodist church. Mrs. Fry also was a member of the Bridgeman Rebekah lodge.

Surviving are the husband; a brother W. R. Fry of Nichols, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Nichols Methodist church. The body will be taken to the church after noon Tuesday. The body is at the Snider funeral home at West Liberty. Burial will be in the Nichols Iowa cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cyrus Fry, a resident of Muscatine foe about sixty years, were held from the home at 1114 Oak street at 1 o'clock this afternoon. From there, the remains were taken to Cranston, where services were held from the United Brethren church. The Rev. C. L. Young of Muscatine, assisted by the Rev. E. Schaefer of the Cranston church, had charge of the services. Burial was made in the Cranston cemetery.

Mrs. Fry died at her home at 6:45 o'clock Saturday evening, following an extended illness. She had been in failing health for about two years, and had been bedfast for five weeks. Complications caused her death. She was 67 years old.

Margaret Amanda Brookhart was born in Perry County, O., on June 22, 1853, and came with her parents to Muscatine county in 1860. In 1869 she was married to Cyrus Fry at Letts, Ia. To this union eight children were born, seven of whom survive.

Her brother, John arrived from Cheyenne, Wyo., four hours before her death. Her sister, Mrs. Rachel Moles Crisp, of Washington Springs, S. Dak., had been with her during the last week.

In addition to them, she leaves to survive, her husband; one sister, Mrs. T. U. Van Pelt, of Kimball, Neb.;  two brothers, Peter of Letts, Mark of Davenport; four daughters Mrs. Nellie Meeker, Mrs. Rachel  Meeker, Mrs. Pearl Chapman, and Mrs. May Riemeke, all of Muscatine; three sons, Albert, of Nichols; Thomas, of Wapello, and Alexander, of Ainsworth; and sixteen grandchildren. Two brothers, three sisters and one daughter preceded her in death.

Word was received in the city this morning of the death of Mrs. Mary Fry at her late home in Cedar township. Mrs. Fry was an old lady in her 86th year, and has resided in Muscatine county since 1855.  She is the mother of Mrs. Joseph Morrison living in this city. Mrs. Fry suffered a stroke of paralysis  about two weeks ago, and although she rallied somewhat, her advanced years made it impossible for her recovery.

Miss Fry, though only a resident of this city for the past few years, enjoyed a wide acquaintance locally, as well as in Cranston.  She was born near Cranston, Feb. 20, 1876, and in 1906, joined the Cranston U. B. church.  Five years ago she came here with her parents, with whom she resided until death came.

The parents, three brothers and four sisters are left to mourn the deceased.  The brothers are Alex at home, Bert, of Nichols Iowa; Thomas, of Cranston; and the sisters, Mrs. J. P. Meeker, residing here;  Mrs. C. W. Meeker, of Cranston; Mrs. S. V. Chapman, of this city, and Miss Mae at home.

Short funeral services will be held at the residence at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning, and the remains will be conveyed to Cranston, where services will be held at the U. B. church, and interment will be made in the Cranston cemetery.  Rev. C. L. Young will conduct both services.

Mrs. Earl (Melva) Fry, 42, of Muscatine died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at University hospital, Iowa City.

The daughter of John and Ella Kinger Darnell she was born Jan. 4, 1927 at Reedsburg, Wis. She married Earl Fry No. 22, 1952 at Wapello. She was a member of the First Christian church.

Mrs. Fry had been employed as a stenographer and IBM operator at Stanley Consultants.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Fry, one brother, Harold Darnell of San Diego, Calif.; and her mother, Mrs. Lucille Hodge of Wichita, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairbanks Funeral home. Rev. Melvin Walton of the First Christian church will officiate, Burial will be in Cranston cemetery.

Mrs. Minnie Fry, 65, died Wednesday morning at her home on Rt. 3.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist church. The body is at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home, where friends may call.  Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery.

The former Minnie Frieden was born June 4, 1907, in Drury Twp., Ill., the daughter of John and Mary Boden Frieden, and had lived in the Muscatine area most of her life.  She was married to Howard M. Fry, Sept. 14, 1929, at Vinton.

Mrs. Fry was a member of Calvary Baptist church.

She is survived by her husband, Howard M. Fry; two sons, Howard Wesley Fry and Joseph J. Fry, both of Muscatine; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Moore of Moline, and Mrs. Roy (Lorena) Moyer, Mediapolis; and three brothers, Harry Frieden, Keithsburg, Ill., Lester and Floyd Frieden of Drury Twp. Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

He was born March 14, 1990 at Muscatine General Hospital.

Mrs. Opal Wells Fry, 89, of Valley View Manor, former Letts and Cranston area resident, died at 2:15  p.m. Saturday at Valley View Manor after an illness of several months.

Funeral services will be held at 1;30 p.m. Tuesday at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home. Dr. J. Henry Teele will officiate. Burial will be in Letts cemetery.

A daughter of E.T.C. Wells and Josephine Hull Wells, she was born Dec. 26, 1882 in Iowa. She married Rolla C. Fry, Dec 12, 1905 at Cranston. The couple lived most of their married life in the Letts  and Cranston area.

Mrs. Fry was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Garden Club, Electra Chapter No. 32; Herb Pals, White Shrine and Hershey Auxiliary.

GRANDVIEW---- Funeral services for Ralph Thomas Fry, 65, a life resident of Grandview, are pending at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Mr. Fry died Friday at Muscatine General Hospital.

He was born Aug. 11, 1908 in Muscatine county, the son of Thomas and Luella Atherton Fry, and he married Frances McGill Dec. 27, 1930. He was of Methodist faith.

Surviving are his wife, three sons, Thomas of Hanau, Germany, Oral of Denver, Colo., and Kenneth of Muscatine; two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Gwendolyn) Carter of Davenport, and Mrs. Clarence (Luella) Klick of Grandview; two brothers, Forrest of Wapello and Earl of Muscatine; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Mae Houtz of Wapello, Mrs. Esther Killey of San Antonia, Tex., and Mrs. Ruby Cross of Middletown; 27 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

ROBY, Mo. -- Richard Leroy Fry, 55, formerly of the Durant/Wilton area where he lived for 25 years, died Jan. 27, 1992 at his home in Roby.

He was born April 17, 1936, in Muscatine, a son of Roy and Dorothy Stanbro Fry. He married Sandra Marsh on March 8, 1954 in Muscatine. The couple lived in the Wilton area where they operated a dairy farm. He served on the extension council and other agriculture related positions. They moved to Missouri in 1985 and to the Roby area near their daughter last year after selling their dairy farm, in the Number One community.

He was leader of the Sugar Creek Challengers 4-H Club for many years and was very active in the Ayrshire dairy cattle breed association.

The body was cremated. No services are planned. Arrangements were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Roby Christian Church, Roby, Mo. 65557, of which he was a member.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra, HCR1 Box 116, Roby, Mo. 65557; three sons Timothy of Hartville, James of Lampe, and Daniel of Fort Riley, Kan.; three daughters Jeri Lynn Schenkel of Wilton; Brenda Brawley of Lynchburg, and Kimberly Murry of Roby; his mother, Dorothy Stanbro of Muscatine; three brothers, Donald of Rochester, Minn., Eugene of Dallas, Texas, and Louis of Muscatine, and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother Haully.

Rolla C. Fry, 62, well known farmer of the Cranston community, died at the Bellevue hospital at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday. He had been ill for the past five months of ailments.

Mr. Fry had spent his entire life on the same farm in Cedar township and was active in affairs of the community. He was a member of  the Cedar township school board for many years, serving on several occasions as head of the board, was chairman of the Cedar township trustees at the time of his death, was active in the War Bond drive in that community until ill health forced his retirement and was a leader in the Muscatine county farm bureau. He attended the Letts Methodist church.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Fry, he was born on the Fry homestead in Cedar township on Dec. 12, 1880. He married Miss Opal Wells on Dec. 12, 1905, at Cranston. Four children were born to this union, two sons, Howard and Wayne, and two daughters, Rilla and Josephine.

The survivors are the widow, the sons, Wayne Fry and Howard Fry, both of Muscatine; the daughters, Mrs. Ross B. Schafer of Mt. Pleasant, Ia., and Mrs. Charles R. Van Dyke of Lexington, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Runyon of Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Stella Furnas of Letts, Ia., and Mrs. Phoenia Epperly of Roseburg, Ore. Also surviving are three grandsons Vernon Shafer and Wesley and Joseph Fry. His father, Josiah Fry died on Sept. 14, 1912 and his mother Nancy Jane Epperly Fry in February, 1937.

The body is at the Hoffman Funeral home and will remain there for rites at the Hoffman Funeral church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. E. L. Shaffer of the United Brethren church at Vinton, Ia., former pastor at Cranston, will be in charge.

Burial will be in the Letts cemetery.

Roy W. Fry, 74, 2007 1st. Ave., died Tuesday at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown where he had been a resident.

Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. David Hotelling will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 2-9 p.m. and Saturday until time of service. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Letts Cemetery.

Mr. Fry was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Louisa County, Iowa, a son of Frank and Emma Westbrook Fry. He had lived here for most of his life. He married Dorothy Stanbro, Aug. 26, 1933, at Muscatine. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He had been employed at Muscatine General Hospital as a maintenance man.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Richard Fry, Wilton; Donald Fry, of Rochester, Minn.; Lyle Eugene Fry, Houston, Texas; and Louie Fry, Muscatine; five brothers, Arthur Fry, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Marvin Fry, Enid Okla.; Alton Fry, Wichita, Kan.; Keith Fry and Scott Fry, both of Muscatine; four sisters Mrs. Ward Lee, Mrs. Robert McElroy, and Mrs. Steve Danko all of Muscatine; and Mrs. Leo Friedli, Wilton; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and one son preceded him in death.

Wapello -- Thomas Ralph Fry, 75, died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday at his home in Wapello.

Mr. Fry was born Dec. 3, 1880, at Shenandoah, Ia. He married Luella Atherton Jan. 1, 1901 at Muscatine.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Forrest and Ralph of Wapello and Earl Fry of Muscatine; three daughters Mrs. Anna Mae Houtz of Wapello, Mrs. Esther Killey, Ludwigsburg, Germany, and Mrs. Ruby Cross, Middleton, Ia., two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Chapman, Cranston, and Mrs. Mae Viner, Muscatine; 30 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Fern and Lucille, two brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dudgeon funeral home with the Rev. Floyd Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in the Cranston cemetery.

Clarence E. Frye, 79, of 187 Sherman St., died Thursday, Nov. 24, 1994, at Community Care of Muscatine.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home.

Mr. Frye was born Dec. 17, 1914 in Muscatine, a son of George and Etta Craddock Frye.
He worked at H.J. Heinz until his retirement.

Survivors include a son, Don Frye of Muscatine; a daughter, Mrs. Danny (Connie) Cox of Letts; eight grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Ethel Mae Frye, 73, 714 E. Seventh St., died Thursday morning, Nov. 19, 1992, at Muscatine General Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Hays of the Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Church will Officiate. Florence Hetzler will be organist. Pallbearers will be Keith Weggen, Shawn Frye, Carl Norris, Steve Frye, Jerry Riecke, Bill Fry,  Gary Lee and Dick Schumacher. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today. A memorial has been established.

Mrs. Frye was born Oct. 2, 1919, at Brighton, Iowa, a daughter of Arthur F. Stropes and Beulah M. (Hoover) Stropes Foley. She had lived here for most of her life. She married Keith E. Frye on Aug. 30, 1947, in Iowa City.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, three sons, Michael D. Frye of Atlanta Ga., Steven J. Frye of Muscatine, and Richard Yeater of St. Petersburg Fla., two daughters Judith Lowman of Sandy Valley Nev., and Shirley M. Weggen of Muscatine; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, James Foley of West Virginia; and two sisters, Shirley Norris of Davenport and Rosie Williams of Mount Carroll Ill.

Mrs. Etta Mary Frye, 87, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, at Muscatine General hospital, following an extended illness.  She formerly lived at
10291/2 Hershey Ave.

She was born October 26, 1880, in Louisa County, and had resided here since 1903.
On December 28, 1898, she married George Morris Frye.  Mrs. Frye was a member of the First Christian church.

Survivors include two sons, two sons, Clarence E. and Melvin R., both of Muscatine; four daughters, Mrs. Willis (Lillian) Otto,
Bettendorf, Mrs. Albert (Geraldine) McCleary, Mrs. Raymond H. (Pauline) Irwin, and Mrs. Isaac (Iris) Lee, all of Muscatine; 24
grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.  Her parents, husband, three daughters, one sister, and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the George M. Wittich Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Walton officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery.

Frances Pearl Frye, 69, of 1912 Pinefield St., died Wednesday at St. Luke's hospital in Davenport.

Services will be Saturday, Sept. 22, 1990, at 1:30 p. m. at the Geo. M. Wittich Lewis Funeral Home.  The Rev. Paul Eilliamson of the Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate.  Burial will be at the Letts Cemetery at Letts, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the Funeral Home where a memorial has been established.

The former Frances Burroughs was born Aug. 25, 1921, at Tipton, Iowa, a daughter of Charles and Anna Elizabeth Burroughs.  She was a life resident here.  On May 15, 1940, she was united in marriage to W. Scotty Frye at Kahoka, MO.  He died May 2, 1988.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
She had been a lunch room superintendent at McKinley Elementary School in Muscatine.

Survivors include 3 sons, Steven Frye, of Muscatine; Terry Frye, of Camanche, Iowa; and Scott Frye, of Tempe, Ariz; nine grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; two brothers Charles Burroughs of Muscatine; and John Burroughs of Columbus Junction; and three sisters, Mrs. Lawain (Dixie) Goodwin of Muscatine; Mrs. Robert (Saddie) Dietz of Davenport; and Mrs. Dean (Loretta) Williams of Oklahoma.  In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Frye was born June 17, 1923, at Minneapolis, a daughter of Albert and Carolyn Baldwin Wookey. She had resided here most of her life. She first married Elmer Millage in 1940 in Muscatine. In 1960 she married Robert Frye in Muscatine. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She retired June 17 from Thatcher Company.

She is survived by eight sons, Fred Millage, Davenport; Jerry Millage, David Millage, and Elmer Millage Jr., all of Muscatine; Robert Millage, California; William Millage, Muscatine; Rickey Millage and Daniel Millage with the Navy, both of California; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Linda) Shockey, Muscatine; and Mrs. Ken (Donna) Hawkins, New Boston, IL; her mother, Carolyn Toyne, Muscatine, three brothers,  Lewis Wookey, Fred Wookey and Erwin Wookey, all of Muscatine; three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Alberta) Wiley and Betty Whitmer, both of Muscatine; and Mrs. Gary (Donna) DeWitt, Sparta, Wis;  and 12 grandchildren.

Her father, both husbands and one daughter preceded her in death.

He was born Nov. 4, 1883, and married Reta Mae Knox, Jan. 11, 1923.  He was the son of Silas and Margaret Frye.

Surviving are the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. J. P. Meeker, Mrs. William Riemcke, Muscatine; Albert Frye, Nichols; Thomas Frye, Wapello; Mrs. George Chatman, Atalissa.  Mr. Frye had been a carpenter here since 1924.

Funeral arrangements have not been made.

An autopsy report is being awaited by authorities here to determine the cause of death of Robert George Frye, 64, Muscatine, who was found dead Saturday night near his car about six miles northwest of Muscatine near the Cedar River.

Final rites for Mr. Frye, who made his home at 907 Leroy St., will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals. George Six, rector of the Trinity Episcopal church will officiate. Burial will be in the Soldier's Plot at Greenwood cemetery.

Richard Oppelt, Muscatine county sheriff, said Mr. Frye's car stalled in eight to 10 inches of water about 1:30 p.m. Saturday on a lane leading to cottages in the area of the Salisbury Bridge.

Mr. Frye's wife Lois and Donna, were reported to have been with him when the vehicle stalled but they left the car. The sheriff said Mr. Frye refused to accompany them and later refused to leave at the request of other relatives who went to the scene.

Sheriff Oppelt said that when friends went to the scene about 8:30 p.m. they found the body of Mr. Frye, who apparently had been drinking beer which was in the car. Water rising from the river during the day necessitated the use of a boat to remove the body which was brought to Muscatine by the Riley ambulance.

Authorities said they felt the death was due to a heart attack, but the autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause.

A son of Frank and Emma L. Westbrook Frye, he was born Dec. 1, 1916 at Letts. His marriage to Lois Wookey Millage took place Dec. 10, 1960, at New London, Mo., Mr. Frye was a steel construction worker, was a member of the VFW.

Surviving are his wife Lois; two daughters, Donna M. Frye and Linda Shockey, both of Muscatine; eight stepsons, Frederick Millage Davenport, and Jerry, David, Elmer, Robert, William, Rickey and Danny all of Muscatine; eight brothers Glen of Burlington, Jack of Letts, Alton of Wichita, Kan., Scott, Ray and Keith all of Muscatine, Arthur of Minneapolis and Marvin of Enid, Okla.; four sisters; Mrs. Leo Fredlien, Wilton, Mrs. Steve Danko, Oak Lawn, Ill., and Mrs. Ward Lee and Mrs. Robert McElroy. both of Muscatine; and four step grandchildren. Services are Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Paul Williamson will officiate. The eulogy will be given by Max Churchill. Honorary pallbearers are Brenda, Traci, Brian, Tammy, Mark, Jerry, Chris, Robert and Kim Frye. Burial will be at the Letts Cemetery with Military rites by the American Legion, the VFW and World War I Barracks.

L. Dean Fugate, 53, resident of the Washington Care Center, formerly of 1201 Wisconsin St. Muscatine, died Saturday evening, Oct. 13, 1990, at the Washington County Hospital, following an extended illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1990 at the Jeffrey S. Nichols Funeral Home. Major Paul Thompson of the Salvation Army will officiate. Burial will be at the Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where a memorial has been established.

Mr. Fugate was born Nov. 23, 1936, at Davenport, a son of Leo D. and Helen Stangege Fugate. The former resident of Letts had resided in Washington for the past seven years.
He  married Bernice Fedler, who survives.

Other survivors include, two sons, Billy Fugate and Donald Fugate, both of Muscatine; one daughter, Lorinda Seager, of Montrose, Iowa; one grandchild, Lee Ritchey, who raised Dean and one brother, Sonny Fugate, of California.
He enjoyed writing manuscripts, reading, fishing and playing his guitar.
He worked as a maintenance mechanic at Bandag Inc. and Doane Products Co.

Funeral services are planned at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mathias church for Leonard M. Fuller, 67, retired grocer whose death occurred at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bellevue hospital, following a two weeks illness.  The Rev. J. J. Welsh, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery.
The body is at the Riley Funeral Home.  members of the Knights of Columbus will be at the funeral home to recite the Rosary in a group at 7 o'clock Friday evening and another Rosary service will follow at 8 o'clock.

Mr. Fuller was born July 17, 1887 in Muscatine, the son of Charles R. and Lucy K. Schwab* Fuller.  He was a lifelong resident of Muscatine and his home was at 403 East Eighth street.  His marriage to Marie C. Ruff took place July 29, 1914, at St. Mary's church, Wilton.

Mr. Fuller was a member of St. Mathias church, the Elks lodge and was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  In addition to his being a grocer, he was in the finance and loan business.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Paul B. Fuller, Milwaukee, Wis., and Robert C. Fuller, Chicago; one brother, Charles B. Fuller, Muscatine; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and one sister.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Fuller, 85, will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mathias church.  Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery.
Visitation will begin Tuesday afternoon at the The Riley Funeral Home and a rosary is to be recited there at 8 p.m. Tuesday.  Mrs. Fuller who resided at the Oakwood Nursing home, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday at the Muscatine General hospital, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 13, 1886, at Wilton, the daughter of Dominicus and Catherine Rininsland Ruff, and had lived in Muscatine since 1914.
She married Leonard M. Fuller on July 14, 1914, at Wilton.  She was a member of St. Mathias church, Catholic Daughters of America, Laky Elks, and was a charter member of the Garden club.
Mrs. Fuller is survived by two sons, Paul B. of Milwaukee, Wis., and Robert C. of Columbus, Ohio., and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955, one daughter, three brothers and one sister.

Letts--Mrs. H. H. Fullerton, 73, died Sunday morning, April 30, at 4:00 a.m., at her home in Letts following an illness of several months.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from the Letts, United Brethren church.  The Rev. L. B. Foster will officiate and burial will be in the Letts cemetery.

Cora Elizabeth Fullerton was born, Oct. 27, 1866, on a farm three miles southeast of Letts, the daughter of a Civil war veteran, Alexander Hidlebaugh, and of Lucinda Wagner Hidlebaugh.  Her early life was spent at the old family home where she was married on Nov. 28, 1888 by the Rev. W. L. Breckenmyer.  Mr. and Mrs. Fullerton celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last November at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Floyd Holliday.  With the exception of two years spent in Minnesota their married life has been spent in Muscatine and Louisa counties.  About ten years ago they retired from the farm to their home in Letts.

Surviving are the husband, four daughters, Mrs. Edna Holliday, of Morning Sun; Mrs. Vinnie Cross, of  Grandview; Mrs. Ida Griffin, of Letts and Mrs. Mildred O'Toole of Davenport; one son J. Earl Fullerton of Muscatine; one sister, Mrs. Bell Brown, of Letts; a brother, William W. Hidlebaugh, of Letts and sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Fullerton was preceded in death by two sons who died in infancy, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Rhyner, Mrs. Nellie Walter, and Nellie who died in infancy, a brother, John C. Hidlebaugh, who died March 7 of this year, and an infant brother, Harry.

Earl Fullerton, 87, 613 Fairview Ave., died earl this morning at the Muscatine Care Center.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Fairbanks-Lamb Chapel.  Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.  Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday until service time Thursday.

The son of H. H. and Cora Wagner Fullerton, he was born Feb. 23, 1895, in Letts.
His marriage to Evelyn Longbothan took place June 20, 1920, in West Liberty.  She died in 1966.  He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the American Legion.  Mr. Fullerton had worked as a painter.

Survivors include one son, James of Muscatine; one daughter, Eleanor Fullerton of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Griffin of Davenport and Mrs. Mildred O'Toole of Des Moines.  Two sisters preceded him in death.

He was born in Nova Scotia, Nov. 15, 1861, the son of James and Celia Baxter Fullerton.  He resided in Minnesota for a time and came here at the age of 21years.  He married Cora A. Hidlebaugh of near Letts on Nov. 28, 1888 and her death occurred on April 29, 1939.  Two infant children also preceded him in death.

Surviving are the following children, Mrs. Edna Holliday of Morning Sun, Mrs. Vinnie Cross of Grandview; J. Earl Fullerton of Muscatine, Mrs. Ida Griffin of Letts and Mrs. Mildred O'Toole of Davenport.  Sixteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a brother, George Fullerton of Roberts, Wis., also survive.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Letts --- Funeral services for Hamilton H. Fullerton, age 79, who died on Tuesday after a short illness, were held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Letts United Brethren church.  The Rev. L. B. Foster, pastor, was in charge and burial was in the Letts cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Cloyce Downer gave two vocal selections, "Sometime We'll Understand" and "God Will Take Care of You".  Mrs. George Crist was piano accompanist.

Flower attendants were Mrs. Albert McGill, Mrs. Dewey Toland and Mrs. Harry Furnas, Mrs. Fay Collins and Mrs. Silvis Lamb.  Pallbearers were Harold Walter, Hubert Hidlebaugh, Glen Hidlebaugh, Albert McGill, Dewey Toland and Harry Hidlebaugh.

CHEROKEE, Iowa - Charlene R. Fulton, 48, of Cherokee died Friday at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital at Cherokee, due to complications from cardiac arrest suffered last week in Des Moines, Iowa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. Gary Armstrong officiating. The body was cremated. Visitation, with the family present, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Mrs. Fulton was born Jan. 18, 1949, at Conesville, Iowa, to Charles and Ruth Buser. She graduated from Columbus Community High School in 1967. In 1971, she graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, and was certified to teach English in grades 7 through 12 and Spanish in grades K through 12. This past year, she began her post graduate work as a computer specialist for grades K through 12.

She married Brian Fulton Aug. 16, 1971. The couple enjoyed planting trees in their habitat area, called Hundred Acre Woods.

She was a member of the Cherokee Community School Board of Directors from 1986 to 1995, president of the school board from 1989 to 1992, the Iowa Association of School Board's District Director from 1993 to 1996, and the Iowa State Extension Council from 1994 to 1997. She was also a member of the Siouxland Symphony Board, and was recently appointed by Terry Brandstad to the Iowa State Board of Education.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe of Iowa City, Iowa; two daughters Katie and Ruby, both of Cherokee; her parents of Conesville; four brothers, Lamoyne and his wife Janice Buser of Conesville, Loren of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Raymond and his wife Sally Buser of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dr. Boyd and his wife Pam Buser of Kennebunkport, Maine; three sisters and their husbands, Bev and Steve Nielsen of Columbus Junction, Iowa, Sandy and Terry Schatzberg of Cedar Falls, and Suzie and Rob Williams of Kansas City, Kan.

Memorials may be given to the Cherokee Community School Strings Program.

Note: I am not related to this person and have no other information--I found it and saved it for my cousin in Conesville who knew her.

Services for Jesse Paul " J. P." FULTS, 88, of Sallisaw will be held at a later date in Iowa. Burial will be in Overman Cemetery, near Atalissa, Iowa.

Mr. FULTS was born Aug. 4, 1910, in McMinnville, Tenn. to William and Mary Lee (JENNINGS) FULTS. He died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, in Sallisaw. He married Marjorie KNICKERBOCKER. She preceded him in death Jan. 14, 1992.

Survivors include one son, Paul Sherman; two grandchildren; one sister, Joy; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including his niece and nephew, Mary Lee and Ray KITTRELL; with whom he made his home the last few years.

Arrangements are under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

WILTON, Iowa -- Services for J. Paul Fults, of Sallisaw, Okla., will be 11 a.m. Monday at Overman Cemetery, Atalissa. Visitation is 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton.

Mr. Fults died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at his home. He was born Aug. 4, 1910, in McMinnville, Tenn. He married Marjorie Knickerbocker in 1947 in LaCrosse, Wis. She died in 1992.

Survivors include a son, Paul, Muscatine; two grandchildren; and a sister, Joy Ball, Sallisaw.

Henry Funck, the aged resident of South Muscatine, who was struck by a Muscatine North and South switch engine at Musser's crossing in South Muscatine on Friday morning, died last evening of his injuries.

The first day it was not expected that the unfortunate man would live but toward evening he was so improved that hope again revived. All that day he lay in a stupor until about supper time when he regained consciousness for the first time since the accident. He was able the next morning to take some nourishment and it was thought was well on the way to recovery. However his internal injuries were more serious than had first been supposed and he slowly grew weaker as a result of internal hemorrhages until the end came last evening  about five o'clock.  He was surrounded by his stricken family when death came who had watched over him through all his sickness.

He had not been able to be removed from the Commercial hotel. where he was first taken when injured and the end came there.
Mr. Funck was 45 years of age and had been a resident of Muscatine for some years, being employed in Musser's Mill.

Letts---Last rites will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Presbyterian church, Rock Island for Aura R. Furnas, 55, former Letts resident, who died suddenly Monday morning at his home.  The Rev. C. H. Rohlfing, pastor will officiate.

Burial will be in the Letts cemetery, with graveside services slated there at 3:30 p.m.
The body was taken to the Hodgeson Funeral Home and will be removed Wednesday noon to the church.

Mr. Furnas was born July 30, 1901 in Letts, a son of Elmer and Stella Furnas. He was reared in and received his education in Letts and later attended Iowa State college in Ames. He had resided in Rock Island Illinois for the past 30 years.

In 1923, he married Dorothy Chamberlain in Muscatine. She died in 1940. He married Alice M. Parker in Rock Island on June 23, 1951.

The deceased started work at the Rock Island arsenal in 1929, and at the time of his death was chief of the small arms section of the arsenal engineering division. He was a member of the Arsenal's Ordinance Service club.

Survivors include the widow, his mother, a daughter Mrs. Norma Dorothy Millet, Ft. Lauderdale Fla.; a son Dan P. Furnas, Norman, Okla.; three step-sons, Mardell Parker, Park Forrest III. Jack Parker, Burlington, Vt., and Jerry Parker, Rock Island; a brother, Marvin Furnas, Letts; three grandsons; and six step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son.
