Postcards - The Flood of Cascade

In 1834 an early settler named Delong arrived in the Cascade area claiming the falls on the Maquoketa River and adjacent land. He later sold the falls and a narrow strip of land to John Sherman and Arthur Thomas who built a flour mill in 1837.
