Dubuque County Reference Books and LookupVolunteers Needed
If you own any Dubuque County books and will do look-ups, please contact
me and I will be glad to put your name and info here.
If you have records transcribed that you would be willing to donate to the
Dubuque County GenWeb for online posting, please contact me.
I am anxious to add more data to individual towns and townships. I am
also looking for help walking cemeteries this summer so that this valuable
information can be made available online.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY and follow these four simple steps.
- Please limit your request to ONE name per request.
- There is a subject line for each reference. Please put this in the subject line of your request to insure the message is not overlooked or accidentally deleted.
- In the first line of the message please put the name of the book you are requesting the lookup in.
- If you request a lookup, don't forget to thank your volunteer for their time.
Feel free to request a look-up from the following books, etc.

I will be happy to do some look ups on Dubuque County even though I am here in Denver, Colorado. As an old Dubuque resident. I have the books DUBUQUE: THE ENCYCLOPEDIA, and DUBUQUE ON THE MISSISSIPPI. I also have the three Bicentennial 1976 Newspaper books on the stages of the growth of Dubuque and best of all, I have the Federal Center that I can also use. So if I can be of any help to family searchers, I would be glad to help. Beth McAleece Mellentine

Kelly Atwood I have a book
I would like to volunteer to do lookups in. My ancestors that came through
Dubuque were there around 1857-1880. The book is called "RUFFCORN
- An All American Family" and it is a wonderful resource. It countains
about 280 pages of photos, genealogies and histories of Ruffcorn descendants.
There is an 85 page supplement as well. I am attaching a copy of the index
for the supplement and will send a copy of the book index as soon as I
get it scanned in and converted to Word. I have permission from one of
the authors, Clark Ruffcorn, to post the indexes at county websites where
Ruffcorns were known to have lived at one time. I hope this will help
others to discover their Ruffcorn ancestors. [email protected]
Kay M. Fischer is a member of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness for Dubuque County and will do lookups for individuals every Wednesday (her day off for that purpose). She is willing to do courthouse record lookups (death, birth, marriage and land records) as well as obituary lookups at the library, and also travel to cemeteries to take pictures of headstones (have a digital camera so she can email the pictures directly to the person looking) or just find out the information on the headstones for individuals.
