1 He died frozen in the snow on 1 January 1947 at
six miles north of Kelvington, Saskatchewan, Canada, at age 20.
2 His obituary appeared and read as follows:
Geo. Wm. Benedickson
George William Benedickson, 20, son of Mr. and Msr. [sic] John Benedickson of Mission City, who became lost New Year's Eve in the snow-covered countryside at Kelvington, Sask., was found on Jan. 1, frozen to death.
Born on October 12, 1926 at Fosston, Sask., he came to British Columbia in 1940. He served for some time in the Reserve Army and returned to Kelvington in April 1946.
Surviving, besides his parents, are two brothers, Oscar and Robert Iso, Mission City; five sisters, Mabel and Wilma, Mission City; Mrs. Nicolena Hammel, Kelvington; Mrs. Helen Miller, Nobleville, Sask; Mrs. Pearl Kidd, Hendon.
Deceased was known to many in Mission, where he stayed for some time.
Funeral service was held from the Legion hall, Kelvington, and interment was in Kelvington cemetery."
