ObituaryJun 24, 2016For Linda being a Christian wasn't a passive thing. She spread the Good News to all who would listen; her bible was worn to the nub. She spent much of her time helping others; there was never any show, just Linda showing up to make sure basic needs were taken care of. Her hands were seldom Idle; she quilted, crocheted, did stain glass and a myriad of other crafts. Linda had a love of animals: dogs, cats, goldfish. Even a squirrel sometimes liked to stop in for a snack. Her home looked like Longwood Gardens; full of potted plants. Weekends found her chasing down more than a few yard sales. But what she really enjoyed was time with her grandkids; she'd usually be teaching them to bake or sharing an afternoon tea.

One time, three girls in a '55 Chevy pulled up next to three guys in a '58 Pontiac. Stopped at a light, they agreed to meet up at a root beer stand: the late William Preston called the blonde for himself. Their 48 year marriage was blessed by 4 children, Wendy, Sandra, William (Karen) and Jonathan; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Judith Mather, Robert Houghton, the late Dan Houghton, Joyce Douan, Doug Houghton, Edd Houghton, the late Ernie Houghton, Lynn Morrison and Hope Whit.

Come celebrate 69 great years Saturday 10-noon at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside where there will be a noon service. Graveside service Tuesday 2 p.m. at Brig Gen William C. Doyle, Cemetery Wrightstown.

Mary was born Dec. 9, 1936, in Plymouth, the daughter of the late William and Abbie (Houghton) Brown. She was a Plymouth High School graduate.
She was a homemaker while raising her family in Pembroke and Concord. Mary also provided loving care to many foster children over the years. She was employed at Concord Hospital for many years.
She enjoyed family gatherings, cribbage and visiting with friends. She loved playing cribbage with her friends at the senior center. She was a Pembroke Action League for Schools volunteer. She enjoyed visiting Florida Busch Gardens with her friend, Brian Smith.
She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Brown of California.
Members of her family include her daughter, Lisa Gilbert of Pembroke; her two sons, John Paul "JP" Bullock of Pembroke and Peter Bullock of Pembroke; her sister, Abby Frizzell of Plymouth; and her brothers, George and William Brown of California. Mary's grandchildren, Ron Verville and Alyssa Gilbert of Pembroke and Jonathan and Samantha Wilson of Penacook, were the loves of her life. Mary had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was very close to her nieces Stacy Frizzell of Sandwich and Tierney Williams of Bedford.
Services will not be held.
Memorial donations may be made to Suncook Senior Center, 10 School St., Allenstown 03275.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, Boscawen, assisted the family with arrangements.1

She was born in Salisbury, Dec. 28, 1924, the daughter of Hugh and Fannie (Houghton) Fraser.
She graduated from Franklin High School and Plymouth State College.
Mrs. Miller taught English at Franklin High School from 1947 until her retirement in 1980. She lived in Salisbury before moving to East Andover in 1952.
She attended the Andover Congregational Church. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Andover Service Club, the Fortnightly Club in East Andover and the New Hampshire Retired Teachers Association.
She enjoyed gardening, especially her flower gardens. Mrs. Miller liked British comedies and baking. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leland Miller, who died in 1964; and siblings, Duncan and Herbert Fraser and Jane Belanger.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Kathleen "Kitty" and Roger Kidder of East Andover and Patricia and Dennis Kwapis of Tipton, Mich; and four grandchildren, Jolanda Nederveld, Dennis Kwapis and Rodney and Scott Kidder.
Graveside services will be held Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at Lake View Cemetery in East Andover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Andover Service Club, P.O. Box 22, Andover 03216.
