He will be remembered most for his quick wit and kind, loving spirit. B.J. grew up in Liberty and was a 2004 graduate of Liberty High School. He had completed one year of college. His fascination with cars, which started when he was a toddler, grew with him. He became a talented racer, beginning with go-karts and moving up to minicup cars and dash cars. In 2003, he was named I-70 Speedway Rookie of the Year. He enjoyed working at The Buckle and spending time with his close circle of friends. He is survived by his parents, Alan and Toni Houghton; a sister. Angela Fortner; paternal grandparents, Floyd and Jewel Houghton; maternal grandparents, Carl and Dora King paternal great-grandmother, Mildred Cox; aunts and uncles, Jim King, Carlene Babbit, C. Benjamin T. Houghton, one of the founders of Enidine, an Orchard Park company known worldwide for its industrial shock absorbers, died Saturday (May 6, 2001) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a brief illness. He was 65.

Houghton, a Town of Tonawanda resident, was born in Mifflinburg, Pa. He served in the Army as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division.

He attended St. Louis University and became an aeronautical engineer. He held a number of patents and was involved with the design of the Apollo moon program in the early 1960s.

In 1966, he helped found Enidine, formerly known as Integrated Dynamics. The company is a global manufacturer energy absorption, vibration isolation and motion-control products.

Since the company's founding, Houghton had held positions ranging from chief engineer to president. He most recently served as a technical adviser to the firm.

In his spare time, Houghton enjoyed fishing and building model airplanes.

He is survived by his wife, the former Jolaine Millward; a daughter, Renee M. Panepinto of Batavia; a son, B. Thomas of Richmond, Va; a brother, Phillip of Estill Springs, Tenn; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Interment will be in Mifflinburg.1

She was born on December 25, 1934, a daughter of the late Norton and Viola Warner of Gilead. She had been a resident of Andover since 1956. Carol was the Tax Collector of Andover for eight years in the 1990s, following a successful career in banking with the Savings Bank of Manchester, where she retired as Assistant Treasurer. She also served Andover for 13 years on its Board of Finance, and was on the building committee for the current firehouse. Carol also was a trustee for the Andover Congregational Church, current treasurer of the Townsend Cemetery Association, and a member of the Andover Senior Citizens. She was also a longtime member of the Andover Grange #76 and the Order of Eastern Star #53, and was on the Andover Republican Town Committee for over 40 years.

She leaves three children, Donald Houghton and his wife, Kate, of Hebron, Brian Houghton and his wife, Karen, of Andover, and Cheryl Mayhew and her husband, Philip, of Andover; and nine grandchildren, Donald, Stephanie, and Jacquelyn Houghton, Morrgan Herlihy, Thomas Guglielmone and his wife, Vicky, Jenna Sharaby and her husband, Shay, and Tawnya, Michelle, and Joseph Mayhew. She also leaves two brothers and a sister, Charles Warner of Stuart, Fla., Muriel Klemola of Pomfret, and Robert Warner of Gilead; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at the Andover Congregational Church, Route 6, Andover, with burial to follow at the Townsend Cemetery in Andover.

Calling hours are on Friday, July 7th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Andover Fire Department, 15 School Rd., Andover, CT 06232.
