Obituary

son of Leonard and Alice May (Belden) Houghton. He had a brother, Earle F., who was born in 1902. Herbert worked for his father as an auto mechanic in his father's shop. His father was a blacksmith who in turn worked for his father who was a wheelwright. In the 1910 census all three generations live together in the home owned by Grandfather William W. Houghton. Sadly he died after 6 days in Mission Memorial Hospital in Springfield from influenza following an operation for appendicitis.

Beloved wife of the late Norman R. Houghton Jr. Loving mother of Kenneth Houghton and his wife Deborah of Wakefield, Robert Houghton and his wife Kerry of Dover, FL, Judith Catino and her husband Edward of Medford, Norman Houghton III and his wife Rita of Ft. Meyers, FL, and John Houghton and his wife Patricia of Salem, NH. She also leaves twelve cherished grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., STONEHAM, on Monday, May 1st at 9 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.

Visiting hours are Sunday, 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be sent to the Alzheimers Association , 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
