AGAWAM - Roger W. Houghton, 82, of River Road, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 31, 2005, in a local nursing home. Born in Montague City, he had lived in Vermont but spent most of his life in Agawam. Roger worked as a machinist for Pratt & Whitney and previously worked for the former American Bosch. He also worked as a courier for Bradley Airport and had worked for Kaman Aircraft. He was a 32nd degree mason and was a member of the Lodge of Masons # 18 in Windsor, VT. He was a Shriner and member of the Mt. Sinai Temple of Shriners, the Shrine Club and Consistory in Burlington, VT and the council and chapter of the Scottish Rite in Brattleboro, VT. Roger was an avid automobile fan owning many different sports cars. He was also an airplane enthusiast and had refurbished an airplane. He was an army air corp veteran of World War II and an air force veteran of the Korean conflict. He leaves four sisters, Dorothy H. Wales of Nashua, NH, Jean H. Hinkley of Ascutney, VT, Marjorie H. Hinkley of Springfield, VT, Beverly H. Rabideau of Brattleboro, VT, and several nephews and nieces. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Marion H. Schultz. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396.³
