Biography

John Lawrence Haughton enlisted in the Confederate army at Fort Macon, NC as a Private in Co. G, NC 27th Infantry Regiment on May 15, 1861. He also served in Co. E, NC 5th Calvary as 1st Lieutenant. Lieutenant Haughton suffered from ill health and succumbed to typhoid fever at his father's home on Sept. 17, 1862.
