Deceased Name: GEORGE F. HOUGHTON, 77 WAS MASS. STATE POLICE CAPTAIN
George F. Houghton, a retired Massachusetts State Police captain, died Monday at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence. He was 77 and lived in North Andover. Born in Methuen, Mr. Houghton graduated from Lawrence High School in 1931 and attended Northeastern University. He joined the State Police in 1944 after serving as a captain in the Army during World War II.

He retired in 1965 from the Troop D headquarters, in Middleborough, then worked for the Raytheon Co. in West Andover for 10 years.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Gladys (Taylor); two daughters, Wendy Fary of Guilford, Maine, and Donna Mielinski of Upton; and a grandson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, North Andover. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
