ADDISON - Kenneth G. Houghton, age 81, of Addison, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson.
He was born on Nov. 12, 1935, in Addison to Ralph A. and Phyllis M. (Brown) Houghton. He married Sandra L. Brown on July 25, 1959, in Addison, Mich., and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2016.
Ken lived his early life in Cement City and then many years in the Addison area. He attended Cement City School. Ken was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
Ken retired from M&S Manufacturing in Hudson, where he worked for 32 years and he was an inspector for many years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and woodworking.
Surviving are two sons, Don (Lisa) Houghton and Dan (Laura) Houghton; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, all of Addison; two sisters, Donna (Rob) Williams of Cement City and Pat Houghton of Lansing; one brother, Robert Houghton of Somerset; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra; his son, David Houghton; five brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison. Burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery in Addison. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22. Full military honors will be performed by the Hudson American Legion, Hannan-Colvin Post 180.

GRAMES Shirley Ann (Houghton)
Shirley Ann Grames, age 76, formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, September 16, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, Ohio. She was born July 1, 1940 in Jackson, Michigan to Ralph and Phyllis (Brown) Houghton. She was a 1958 graduate of Cement City High School, and on June 18, 1960, she married her beloved husband, James A. Grames Sr. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2012. Shirley worked for the Meijer's store in Maumee.
Shirley devoted her time to her family and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Debra (James) Slaby; sons, James Jr. (Constance) Grames, Bryan (Sarah) Grames, Kevin (Chrystal) Grames and Gregory (Robin) Grames; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Kenneth Houghton, Keith (Judy) Houghton, Donna (Rob) Williams, Patricia Houghton and Robert Houghton.
Besides her parents and loving husband, James, Shirley was preceded in death by her grandson, Logan Grames; and siblings, Junior, Fred, Elmer, Larry, Joyce, Carol and Doris.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday, September 21st from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut Street in Swanton (419.826.2631). Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 24th at 1 p.m. at Amboy Township Cemetery in Metamora.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, 200 S. Park Rd., #100, Hollywood, FL 33021.
