CJV: have assumed Abraham as parent, best fit; Sarah Hoyt research also reached same conclusion: Brown: The chart shows: Jacob Houghton m. Betty Axdell; Jacob's father as
Abraham Houghton m. Caroline Houghton (cousin of Abraham); Abraham's
father as Jacob Houghton m. Mary Willard. I noted that this line
doesn't fit the information you have on Abraham, which by Jacob's
birthdate, would not put him as a child of Caroline. But it's hard for
me to think that 'Grandma Park' would guess about that. On the other
hand, it was the Park line through her grandmother that she was
interested in proving to the DAR.²⁰

Problem

All Lancaster VRs dates on p. 125 (that gives his birth as 1760) are contradicted elsewhere in Nourse; NOTE: "The foregoing are the Descendants of John Houghton from Lancashire England and his wife Anna. Entered by request of Henry Houghton, of Putney Vermont..."; Henry also gives erroneous dates for Abraham's marriage and his bd

J.W.Houghton, p. 334 gives some children with dates; p. 521 gives different children with dates (latter listed in DAR lineage books); and p. 363 gives different children without any dates.^2,21
