Arthur L. Verge gets on a Houghton ship to SF and changes his name to George Levi Houghton in SF. He marries my great-grandmother Eli C. Hegge who has just arrived from Norway. They have three children, George Edward Houghton, Adele Celia Houghton and Ethel Houghton. George dies young, Adele marries Harry Bird and lives in SF. She has a son, Harry Bird Jr. Then she divorces him, marries William Ferrell and has two more sons, my father Kenneth Ferrell and his older brother Raymond Ferrell. They live in San Leandro, Ca.

I just want to know what happened to poor Elizabeth Walsh. We cannot turn up anything on her. Did they have children? Did she die? Or did he just up and leave her?

George Levi Houghton and Arthur L. Verge both have the same birthdate. He told my grandmother that he came from Portland, ME. We did find records to the effect that he was a trunkmaker in ME. He was famous in the family for carrying around a box of property deeds in a small trunk. He never did work, but seemed to be a con man of sorts.

I have dates etc. for everyone if you want them. But I would really like to know about poor Elizabeth.
