ProblemProblem with children, JWH gives 9 additional children with no bd; a number of the undated children are similar to the children given for his parents Abraham and Sarah in their warning out. Many of legitimate dated children are all buried at Prospect Cemetery in Battleboro VT:
JWH, p. 334 gives some children with dates; p. 521 gives different children with dates (latter listed in DAR lineage books); and p. 363 gives different children without any dates [CJV: it is almost certain that JWH gives all the female children of father Abraham, and his wife Caroline, as children of Henry; exact fit of 9 names: Caroline, Sally, Rachel, Judah, Polly, Eunice, Betsey, Abigail]
ProblemAll Lancaster VRs dates on p. 125 (that gives his birth as 1760) are contradicted elsewhere in Nourse; NOTE: "The foregoing are the Descendants of John Houghton from Lancashire England and his wife Anna. Entered by request of Henry Houghton, of Putney Vermont..."; Henry also gives erroneous dates for Abraham's marriage and his bd

J.W.Houghton, p. 334 gives some children with dates; p. 521 gives different children with dates (latter listed in DAR lineage books); and p. 363 gives different children without any dates.

Description:      [48] p. : ill; 19 cm.
Notes:      The calculations on the calendar pages are identical with those in Houghton's genuine almanac for 1807 (Shaw & Shoemaker 10593), by Asa Houghton (Keene, N.H.), except that the calculations for the moon's phases vary slightly, and those in the notes column of Houghton's calendar pages are not found in Thomas's. In turn, all the calculations in Houghton's 1807 almanac, except those for the rising and setting of the sun and the length of the day, duplicate those in The Newhampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont almanack for 1807 (Shaw & Shoemaker 50700), with astronomical calculations by Gilbert Graves (Walpole, N.H.) A few of the calculations in Graves are not paralleled in Houghton.
Copies of letters by Gilbert Graves, accompanied by a photostat of letters by Isaiah Thomas to or concerning Graves, are in the American Antiquarian Society's manuscript collection. These indicate that Graves calculated Isaiah Thomas Junior's town & country almanack for 1813 to 1815, the 1813 issue in collaboration with Houghton. The calculations in Thomas' almanacs for several years previous are identical in part or almost entirely with those in Houghton's. All these circumstances suggest a collaboration between Graves and Houghton, on both the Houghton and Thomas series of almanacs, from at least 1807 to perhaps 1813. The title pages of Houghton for 1807-1813 have the phrase "Astronomical part by Asa Houghton." All others before and after these dates have the phrase "By Asa Houghton." The wording of the authorship phrase is not as suggestive as the alteration in it.
