In the Mad-River Twp 1850 census, I did find the following Hullinger's
that
lived close to George Kizer. At least the entries was on the same page.
Harry Hullinger (26) Tailor born Oh
Julianna Hullinger (29) born Oh
Winfred (2)
Have no idea who they are.
Abram Hullinger (49) Farmer born in VA
Catherine (34) born in Ohio
They have nine children from 17 to l year of age
Valentine Hullinger (56) Farmer born in VA
Elizabeth (46) born in VA
They have four children from 23 to 11 years of age.
I believe that these are brothers to my Jacob Hullinger (1783-1830)
Abram Hullinger (31) Farmer born in Ohio
Ruth (25)
Alphus (3)
James Hullinger (28) Farmer born in Ohio
Maria (18) born in Ohio
Eliza  (3)

I think, the Harry Hullinger (26) Tailor born OH on the Mad-River Twp 1850OH census is actually Harvey.

Think Abram (49) is son of Daniel and Nancy S.

I thought I had a Mary on census in question but have not gotten back to her and think when I left that research there were two Marys that could fit that listing.

If any of that helps at all.    ?

I found the following amongst my research papers yesterday. Perhaps it
will be of use to those who are searching for info on Daniel.

It was sent to me in 1985 by Loral Hullinger, Flying A Realty, Leon, Iowa.
It was a copy of research she had from Robert N. Hullinger, Cinncinati,
Ohio.
It is quite lenghty but very interesting so will have to send it in
installments.

TRACING ROOTS OF THE HULLINGER FAMILY

"Did you know that your great-great-great-great-grandfather fought in the
Revolutionary War? And that he is buried only thirty five miles from
here?"

That was Charlotte Hullinger speaking to me. She's not a Hullinger by
birth--married into the family. She married me and has gotten used to
being a member of a minority community-those who bear the name Hullinger.

Daniel, the Revolutionary War veteran, was perhaps one of the first to call
himself Hullinger instead of Hollinger. Buried in Trenton. Why I could
drive up there, find his grave and be back in a single afternoon. Just
look
for Rector Cemetery, according to the family records compiled by an aunt
I'd never met. And she'd gotten the information from records that had been
recorded many years ago.

But no one in Trenton knew of a Rector Cemetery. Not the fire chief,
police
chief, nor proprietor of the local historical society. Sorry! So I went on
to Champaign County, Ohio, where the records said Daniel settled when he
came to Ohio after the War for Independence. In the library I found an
eighty-year-old directory with a fold-out map on where cemeteries were
located. There, on the boundaey line of Mad River Township, Champaign
County with Clark County a Rector Cemetery was located. There couldn't be
two of these in Ohio! And it was a couple miles north of Tremont City. The
records had said a couple miles north of Trenton. This had to be it.

In the village of Terre Haute, Mad River Township, Champaign County, Ohio,
I got directions from an elderly woman. No one else seemed to know about
it.

"Yes, you follow Storm's Creek about three miles, and when you get toValley Pike crossroad you turn around and come back about a quarter of amile. Park your car on the south side of the road, cross the creek, and upon the bank on the other side there'll be woods. Other side of the woods is a field. The cemetery is right in the woods. But it is an old one. Nobodygoes there any more."

And it was as she said. It was 7:30 P.M. It was June.

Remember what is like to come out of a bright, sunshiny day into a movie theatre? It takes awhile to get used to the available light. What an eerie sight it was! It was like finding a lost civilization.  Admidst trees and vines, rising out of the  knee-high undergrowth were tombstones of all shapes and sizes. Some were tilted at odd angles. Some were knocked over.
Some were leaning against trees. All of them seemed to grow from the same forest as the underbrush. This was the forest primeval! There haddto be ten acres of cemetery in this forest.
Sunset was coming soon. Would I find any Hullingers buried here?"

Will send the next installment tomorrow which will tell of the tombtones found in Rector Cemetery. Loral Hullinger also sent me a copy of the tombstones (7) that Robert Hullinger found.

"With light fading fast, I found tombstones of Ann, wife of Daniel, the
ancestors of several hundred descendants. In fact, I'd stumbled into a
Hullinger "section" of the cemetery. Oh yes, there are many Rectors buried there.

Darkness prevented my staying, but a couple months later my son, Rob, went back with me to Rector Cemetery. We took a hatchet, weed-cutters and a saw to clear away the Hullinger section. There had to be more tombstones in the underbrush. clear that awy and get more light of mid-day and who knows whose bburied there!
we were able to get some pictures to give an idea of what you'd find
today.
A few of them are on the other side.

THE TOMBSTONES WE FOUND IN RECTOR CEMETERY
1. Daniel Hullinger, 1757-1839
2. Ann, Daniel's wife 1767-1836 (nee Shockey)
3. Jacob, 1788-18300, 3rd son of Daniel and Ann
4. John (no further insription visible)
5. wesley, son of J & R Hullinger 1859-61 (John Hullinger and Rebecca
Branstetter)
6. Valentine Hullinger 1793-1859
7. Elizabeth, nee Maggard 1799-1856 wife of Valentine
8. George W., 1835-36, son of Valentine & Elizabeth
9. Butha D., dau of A. & R., b: June 3, 1829 d. 24 Jan, 1834
(A&R are Abraham & Rossana)
10. Rosanna, 1805-1834, wife of Abraham (1801-73). Note she dies two days after Butha D. same health problem?
11. Elizabeth 1816-37, wife of Abraham
12. Catharine, 1816-56 wife of Abraham
Abraham was the 11th and last child of Daniel and Ann nee Shockey. The three wives buried here were mothers of 14 children.
He is buried in the church cemetery in Tremont City, two miles south in Clark County. His great-grandson, Myron Myers Hullinger--now in his seventies, lives in nearby Terre Haute.

Rector Cemetery is one of thousands of abandoned burying grounds in America. It is no longer listed among cemeteries in Ohio. I'm glad we found it before the forest totally reclaims the land and traces from sight and memory".

Included with the story was a copy of the original pictures of the
tombstones Robert Hullinger and his son took. The pictures of the stones aren't real clear but are so a person can see some of the inscriptions.
I hope this info will be of help to those researching this family.
Happy hunting-Shirley

I have found a Valentine Hullinger appointed to serve as guardian for
Hiriam aged about 15 son and heir of George Hullinger, deceased, guardianship appointment dated 31 Oct 1825.

I have a George Hollinger 1775-1825 in the database who married Elizabeth Anderson but don't know his children.  Would anyone have a list of them?
or
know who else that guardianship might refer to?

I think the guardianship papers above are listed in the Champaign County Ohio Probate Court.

Thank you.
