ancestor No. 62 was Hollinger Brown born 1785 Stewart Co., Ga., died 1859,
Baldwin Co., Ga. Hollinger Brown's parents are not given, but his mother
may have been a Hollinger desc. of Titus, Absolom, or William Hollinger of

Marie, there is a deed in Greene Co., GA , dated 18 Jan 1797 from John
Marcus and wife Hannah ,gdn of Elizabeth Hollinger daughter of Alexander
Hollinger, both of Greene Co. p.o.a. to James Ingram atty at law, ..to
take
possession of the 50A lot of land deeded said Elizabeth Hollinger our
ward
and daughter from her grfather Titus Hollinger dated 30 May 1778,
Rec. Bk
A, folio 22, 23, 24. From this I assume Alexander had died prior
to 1778
and his widow Hannah, elsewhere signed Ann, had at some unknown date
married John Marcus.
Then there is a deed in Richmond Co., GA dated 2 Jan 1800 from Peter
Leath
of Washington Co. to Nathaniel Durkee, city of Augusta.......Lot #6 ...sold
to Titus & Alexander Hollinger, given by Titus Hollinger as the survivor
to
his granddaughter Elizabeth Hollinger, the wife of said Peter Leath.
Peter and Elizabeth Leath moved to Wilson Co., TN probably between 1804
and
1807 as their first two children William and Nancy (my husband's
line)
were
born in Georgia 1802 and 1804 respectively. Their third child Marcus Hatton
Leath was born in TN 1807.
The name Hatton runs in the Leath family and I have wondered if Hannah's
maiden name might not be Hatton.

"Being a study of the complex genealogies and relationships of people and
events leading to the Creek War and the Removal
Compiled by Carol Middleton and many other compilers whose names appear
with
their families' information
In the early 18th century, French cavaliers came south from Canada and
founded Fort Louis de la Mobile on the Alabama River. In 1711, the early
fort was abandoned because of flooding condition. A new fort was built
closer to Mobile Bay; it was named Fort Condé. The French Navy was
stationed
there. The Marines naturally sought wives and since there was a lack of
French women in the colonies, they married into the local Native American
tribes.
Additionally, traders -- both French and British -- moved into the
Territory. They lived among the tribes, often making alliances with tribes
by marrying daughters of the Chiefs, which assured the best trading
advantage.
In 1717, Fort Toulouse was built upriver; it was at the frontier of the
French Territory and served to protect against British invaders. About
1763,
the British took command of both forts and British traders began to move
into the new British Territory.
The site for the first white-Creek relations was also the site for the
formal end when General Andrew Jackson had the old fort refurbished as Fort
Jackson at the end of the Creek War and here was held the ceremony of
surrender of the Creeks.
Learn a bit more about the French Colonials who came to the French
Territory.
You may visit Fort Toulouse / Jackson near Wetumpka and Montgomery today
and
also the French Fort Condé in Mobile. Both are Alabama attractions
and both
feature live reenactments of historical events. You may also visit Fort
Toulouse via the Internet.
These are family histories of some very interesting people. In reading
this
material, you will know how enmeshed were their lives and how complex were
their loyalties. You will find a rich mix of bloodlines for assimilation
began as soon as the explorers and White traders came into the territory.
You may even find families of other tribes who lived and intermarried Among
The Creeks. Some of my own family is here, as they lived among the Creek
families, but all are of great interest to me. If you are researching any
of
these families, please contact me and share what you know.

I have a Gaddy line from Georgia, previous I believed
moved from S.C.,
before that I have no idea. I was just hoping....... I had some
other
connected surname(Womack) who much later moved down to Gadsden Co. Florida.
If you can check to see if any of these names might fit I would appreciate
that.
James Gaddy died 1806 Effingham Co, Savannah,Ga previously lived in
Augusta,
Richmond Co., Ga. late 1790's
Martha Gaddy, somehow connected to James, married a Titus Hollinger of
Augusta,Richmond Co., Ga. late 1780's (she had children, Sarah, Murriah,and
William Hollinger(or possibley Gaddy)
I believe Martha to be a daughter of James's because in his will
he leaves
his estate to be sold and the money to go for education of these Hollinger
children.
If anyone can help, this is a brick wall and has been for years. Thanks.
